COVID-19 Updates
Westchester Community College’s COVID-19 plans were developed with recommendations from federal, state, and county health professionals to keep the community safe and prevent the spread of COVID-19. As the situation concerning the pandemic and the vaccine continue to be fluid, note that our plan will remain subject to change due to new information and updated guidance and/or direction from the State of New York and the Governor’s Office.
April 20, 2023 Announcement
As of Summer 2023, the COVID-19 vaccine is no longer mandated for students attending any of the 64 SUNY campuses, including SUNY Westchester Community College.
This means that students are no longer required to submit proof of COVID-19 vaccination to enroll in in-person classes, or to access campus services or facilities in-person at SUNY WCC. However, we continue to strongly recommend that students get vaccinated against COVID-19 and receive any subsequent COVID boosters. If a student has been vaccinated against COVID-19 SUNY requires the student to submit their vaccination documentation here. Students are still required to be up-to-date with other vaccinations, including MMR, meningococcal meningitis, and influenza.
Students enrolled in any program/course or participating in a clinical/internship held at a third-party location must continue to comply with all health and safety guidelines, including any COVID vaccination or testing protocols that are in place at the third-party location. Furthermore, certain employees, students, and volunteers at healthcare facilities, may be subject to mandatory COVID-19 vaccination pursuant to relevant regulations and policies. Mask wearing is optional at SUNY Westchester Community College.
Anyone who tests positive for COVID-19 or is sick with any airborne infectious disease should stay home. Furthermore, any student who tests positive for COVID-19 must report the positive test result to healthoffice@sunywcc.edu and any employee who tests positive for COVID-19 must report the positive test result to BenefitsInfo@sunywcc.edu and follow the current CDC guidelines. The applicable COVID-19 guidelines aw of the date of this message are summarized by the CDC here.
SUNY WCC will continuously examine COVID-19 data and update our policy as needed based on local conditions or in response to requirements imposed by federal, state, or local authorities. We will also continue to monitor local conditions carefully and make changes as appropriate.
