Colleagues,
Part of our success and stewardship objectives includes ensuring that our faculty, staff, and students are equipped with tools and resources to best facilitate the teaching and learning needed for future higher learning and workplace experiences. Classroom and common space environments can play a major role in facilitating collaborative learning experiences, innovative problem solving opportunities, and even substantive global exchange. While “space matters,” this is only one approach to improving classroom pedagogy. This weeks article challenges our thinking on what makes good learning happen. Is it round tables and modular furniture? Or is it the faculty member — who regardless of space — finds ways to engage students individually and collectively? I’d love your feedback and thoughts.
