Message from Dr. Belinda S. Miles: Refreshed and Ready!
August 30, 2019
Colleagues,
It astounds me every year how quickly we get to the end of the summer. While it’s been a time for relaxation and recharging, it’s also been a time for us to continue our mission-driven work. The campus has been quite active since the end of the spring semester. We welcomed new, continuing, and visiting students to the college for summer classes. Our Guided Pathways, Achieving the Dream, Title V, Strategic Planning, and other teams have continued their work on student success initiatives. We will share more information once the fall semester is underway. Your input and engagement will ensure that we maximize our teaching and learning effectiveness and our service excellence.
Committing to a safe and respectful workplace requires intentionality. Those of us on campus through the summer had an August 31 deadline for completing a mandatory eLearning Employee Compliance Training program offered through Human Resources and the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion on sexual harassment and bullying. Employees returning to work this September will have until October 8 to complete the required training. Check your email for information.
This training reflects our joint commitment to each other and to a work environment that’s conducive to our mutual development and the development of our students. As a result, we are better equipped to identify, address, and change inappropriate and illegal behaviors in our workplace. This matters as we work to live our shared values and model them for our students.
I hope you enjoy the weekend and return to campus refreshed and ready to greet a new cohort of learners, our continuing students, and our colleagues.
