Colleagues –
Wow! What a fantastic commencement ceremony and end to our spring semester. From our faculty and student leaders – to our commencement speaker and trustees, the remarks were energizing, heartfelt, motivating, and focused on celebrating our students’ achievement of their academic goals. In addition to Mr. Larry Woodard’s remarks (and rousing examples of powerful brands and jingles), I’m sure our students appreciated having County Executive George Latimer and United States Senator Charles E. Schumer offer remarks to them. County Legislator Mary Jane Shimsky was also in attendance, celebrating the evening with us. Local, state, and federal support for public higher education is of increasing importance. We deeply appreciate support from our legislative representatives and thank those who attended this year’s commencement.
Our commencement ceremony and all the preparation takes months of planning. Thanks to all who worked so diligently to process student records, plan the ceremony, and to provide an evening of celebration for students and their families – many attending a college graduation for the very first time. We are fortunate that we have so many opportunities to celebrate student and institutional success, and I am truly grateful for your dedication, professionalism, and desire to help students and the college succeed.
As we bask in the achievement of graduating one of the largest classes in college history, I’m happy to share a short video from last evening’s event. Be sure to check the website over the next few days to view images and more from the ceremony.
Wishing all of you a safe and wonderful summer.
