Message from Dr. Belinda S. Miles – March 11, 2016
We’ve been lucky with weather that has provided a beautiful backdrop for hosting a range of groups. We hosted the Westchester Delegation of our State Assembly who are always impressed with our campus and pleased to know about ways we continue focusing on student success. A group of high school principals were here to keep informed about our academic programs and the transition programs for high school students. We highlighted our Advanced College Experience (ACE) program that enrolls thousands of local high school students each year.
Earlier today, the Westchester Green Business Challenge held its speaker series event in the Gateway Center. My welcome remarks allowed me the opportunity to share some of the college’s initiatives including our involvement in a county recycling program and awareness activities such as Earth Day. Additional recommendations from the Sustainability Committee include improvements to the Bee Line bus service which has become a special project of the college Board of Trustees.
I appreciate the leadership of the President’s Communication Council who committed to leading a collaborative process to develop a values statement for the college. This will advance our ongoing effort to show and share consideration throughout the college. The process will begin at the start of the fall semester and include all of our stakeholder groups.
Next week is spring recess. If you will be away, I hope you have a great time. Please take time to talk with your friends, neighbors, and anyone you encounter in the community about taking classes. Summer registration is underway!
Thanks for making it a great week.
