Colleagues,
This week and by invitation of Vice President and CFO Brian Murphy, members of the SUNY Police Department assisted the college with a peer review of our campus security policies and procedures. Initial feedback was very positive. We heard that members of the community feel safe, and Director of Security, Mr. Scott Sullivan, has continually improved our security systems and practices and offered new training to raise awareness of how each of us can help keep the college safe. We thank Mr. Sullivan and our security team for their diligence in meeting these high standards.
With warmer weather (hopefully) right around the corner, I extend thanks to our Physical Plant department for the work occurring around campus as we prepare for spring and events like the Environmental Symposium on April 17, the Native Plant Center plant sale on April 27, and the April 28 memorial honoring Dr. Joseph Hankin. This is the time of year when the campus truly hums with activity and I hope that you are able to make time in your busy schedules to enjoy one or more of the events that are planned through the remainder of the semester, especially those celebrating our students’ achievements.
Thank you to those who were able to participate in today’s I Am SUNY WCC mosaic project, sponsored by Student Involvement and celebrating the wonderful diversity that is Westchester Community College. I can’t wait to see the finished product of all the unique tiles created by our students and campus community. Student Involvement will let us know where and when the mosaic will be on display.
As we celebrate our diversity, we also recognize our individuality and our own particular interests. That’s one of the greatest things about Westchester Community College – there truly is something for everyone here. Individually we are awesome and collectively we are so much more!
The new “Register Now” banners on campus are a reminder that this is time to register students for summer and fall. Thank you for the work you are doing – especially during this busy time of year – to help students achieve their goals.
