About the Mount Vernon Extension Center
The Mount Vernon Extension Center of Westchester Community College is located at 17 S. Fifth Avenue in downtown Mount Vernon, a short walk from City Hall. Equipped with smart technology classrooms, a comfortable student lounge, spacious computer labs and a large lecture hall, the center offers students a wide range of courses in general education, liberal arts and ESL.

Academic counseling is offered at Mount Vernon every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday evening from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
Financial aid counseling is offered at Mount Vernon every Tuesday from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm.
No appointment necessary; counselors see students on a first come, first serve basis.

English Review Classes for Nursing Entrance Exams: Students preparing for Nursing Entrance Exams may be eligible to register for the Mount Vernon English Nursing Entrance Exam review classes. For more information, click on the following link: Nursing Entrance Exam Preparation
Serv-Safe Food Sanitation Course: Sponsored by the Westchester County Department of Health, the Serv-Safe course prepares students for the Serv-Safe certification exam. The required textbook includes a sample test sheet and is available at the college bookstore on the main campus. Classes meet once a week for seven weeks. Serv-Safe classes offered at Mount Vernon in Spring 2016 are:

English as a Second Language: The Mount Vernon Extension Center offers ESL from levels 1 through 6. Classes are offered Tuesday/Thursday mornings, Tuesday/Thursday evenings, or all day Saturday. Metro-North lines serving the extension center include: the New Haven line stopping at Mount Vernon East (a short walk to the college) and the Harlem line stopping at Mount Vernon West (a short bus ride to the college).
Bronx River Pkwy traveling southbound:
Take Exit 10B, left onto Bronx River Rd. Left onto Mt. Vernon Avenue/Yonkers Ave, right onto W. Lincoln Ave, left onto W. 1st St, right onto S. 5th Ave (college on left).
Hutchinson River Pkwy traveling southbound:
Take Exit 8 toward Mt. Vernon, keep right at the fork, follow signs for NY-22S, right onto E. Lincoln Ave. At the traffic circle, take third exit onto Gramatan Ave. Right onto W. 1st St, left onto S. 5th Ave (college on left).
Bronx River Pkwy traveling northbound:
Take Exit 10A, right onto Mt. Vernon Ave/Yonkers Ave; Continue to follow Mt. Vernon Ave. Turn right onto W. Lincoln Ave, left onto W. 1st St, right onto S. 5th Ave (college on right).
Hutchinson River Pkwy traveling northbound:
Take Exit 9 for Wolfs Lane, right onto Wolfs Lane. Take first right onto Colonial Ave, continue onto E. Sanford Blvd, right onto S. 5th Ave (college on right).
