New and Transfer Student Orientation

New and Transfer Student Orientation is a one-day in person experience designed to help you successfully transition to SUNY Westchester Community College. During the session, you’ll participate in a campus tour led by an Orientation Leader, who will serve as your guide and host for the day. The program also includes a variety of presentations that offer opportunities to connect with fellow students, meet college professionals, and learn about the many student services and resources available to support your success.

Orientation provides a valuable opportunity to build meaningful connections and develop a strong sense of belonging within the college community. Virtual Orientation

Part of New and Transfer Student Orientation, Virtual Orientation is a two-hour online session designed to help evening and online students successfully transition to SUNY Westchester Community College. During Virtual Orientation, evening and online students will learn about campus resources, explore opportunities for involvement, understand their rights and responsibilities as students, and discover strategies for academic and personal success.

Virtual Orientation is the first part of our comprehensive experience. The second part will be completed through an engaging Online Orientation Module, available through the MyWCC portal.

Upcoming Session:
Tuesday, August 25, 2026, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm through ZOOM.

Family Orientation

Part of New and Transfer Student Orientation, Family Orientation gives families the chance to learn about the many services, resources, and opportunities available to support their students’ success. It’s also a great way to better understand the new responsibilities and challenges students may face as they begin their college journey.

Family Orientation features a formal, panel-style discussion that provides valuable insights into the SUNY Westchester experience. Family members will hear directly from college staff about how they can support their student and stay connected throughout their time at the College.

There will be two Family Orientation sessions offered in either English or in Spanish. Family Orientation is not intended for incoming students and does not meet the student Orientation requirement as it is a distinct experience.

Upcoming Session:
Tuesday, August 18, 2026, from 6:00 pm – 8:00 pm.
If a family member plans to attend, students must register their family members during the registration process.

Orientation sessions are intended for WCC students. However, we do offer live Family Orientation sessions during the week of our summer sessions and a self-guided Family Orientation during Winter Orientation. Family Orientation is a separate and unique program that does NOT meet the New and Transfer Student Orientation requirement. The presentations are geared for adults who want to learn more about the College and ways in which they can support their student. Children are discouraged from attending and or participating.

Students are encouraged to wear comfortable and appropriate clothing with comfortable closed-toed shoes.

New students will participate in a variety of fun and informative activities that are held during interactive speeches and engaging workshops.
