The Blue Envelope Program
The Blue Envelope Program helps individuals who are on the autism spectrum feel safer and more understood during traffic stops with a police officer. The inside of the blue envelope can contain the individuals license, registration, and insurance. On the outside of the envelope, individuals can include critical communication guidelines that can assist law enforcement officers in recognizing and adapting their approach when interacting with a driver who is on the autism spectrum. When the officer gets to the car, you can simply say “I have a blue envelope”. If you think this could be helpful to you, please pick up a blue envelope in the Accessibility Services Office, located on ground floor of the library, Room G-57. The blue envelope can also be found online or through your local police station.
