Welcome to the Humanities Department! In our Department, you will find historians, philosophers, and linguists. You will find award-winning professors eager to work with you as you strengthen your reading and writing skills, learn a new language, and explore the world of arts, and humanities.

The Humanities Department’s mission is to encourage students to think critically, in our courses in art, history, languages and philosophy. By promoting humanism, our offerings will provide students with a better understanding of our diverse world.

Information about the chair
Contact Information
Dr. Christolyn Williams, a 1987 graduate of Westchester Community College, is a historian of Latin America and the Caribbean. She is Department Chair of the Humanities, and teaches history of Africa, Global history and Latin America and the Caribbean, both online and on Campus.
A Co-Chair of the Joseph and Sophia Abeles Endowed Chair in Global Literature, she is an organizer and participant in Scholarly forums, Teach-Ins, and Presentations on Campus. A member of the Faculty Student Association (FSA) Board, she serves as advisor to the Black Student Union and the African Renaissance Club. She has earned the SUNY Excellence in teaching Award.

Sports
The Westchester Community College Athletic Department sponsors thirteen different intercollegiate athletic teams in various sports. The roster of sports offered includes Men’s Baseball, Women's Softball, Men’s and Women’s Basketball, Men’s and Women’s Bowling, Men’s and Women’s Cross Country, Men's Golf, Men's and Women's Track and Field, Men’s Soccer, and Women’s Volleyball.
