CCAMPIS Grant for WCC Students

Reduced-Tuition Child Care for Parenting Students

Balancing college, family responsibilities, and the cost of child care can be challenging. The Child Care Access Means Parents in School (CCAMPIS) Program at SUNY Westchester Community College helps eligible student-parents access high-quality, affordable child care while pursuing their education.

Through CCAMPIS, eligible SUNY WCC student-parents may receive substantially reduced child care tuition at the on-campus Virginia Marx Children’s Center (VMCC).

VMCC provides high-quality, licensed, and accredited child care for children from six weeks through five years and nine months of age. Since 2018, CCAMPIS at SUNY WCC has supported more than 70 student-parents and their children, helping parents stay enrolled and make progress toward their educational goals.

“Without the CCAMPIS grant, my education would have been extremely difficult to pursue. As a new parent, I rely on this support to afford quality childcare for my 3-year-old daughter, who has been in the program since she was just 6 months old. The grant allowed me to return to school with peace of mind, knowing my child is in a safe, nurturing, and educational environment. Without it, I would struggle to balance school, work, and childcare, and may not have been able to continue my education at all. The grant has positively impacted both of our futures. Please never cut this grant, the way this has helped and benefited so many people including myself is making a difference in the next generation of children and adults. Without grants like this people like me wouldn’t have the opportunity to move forward and would have to struggle even more than we are now. With this grant we have peace and security knowing our children are growing and learning in a safe and healthy environment. Please keep this grant going as long as possible.”

“It would be almost impossible for me to attend classes without the help of CCAMPIS. The grant allows for me to provide a safe, healthy, learning environment for my child, while I can pursue my studies. My child has progressed tremendously since being enrolled into the program. I’ve been able to interact with amazing student-parents, counselors, and receive great support and resources.”

“If I didn’t receive the CCAMPIS grant, my education would be significantly affected. As a parent, balancing school and childcare is already challenging, and without this support, I’d struggle to afford reliable childcare while attending classes, clinicals, or studying. It would likely force me to reduce my course load, delay my graduation, or miss important academic opportunities. The grant truly makes it possible for me to stay focused, committed, and present in my education. I had a long final exam for one of my respiratory therapy classes that I really needed to pass, and on top of that, I needed extra time to study leading up to it. Thanks to the program, I had reliable childcare during those study hours and the actual test day. I was able to focus without worrying, and it really helped me feel prepared and confident. Without that support, it would’ve been almost impossible to manage both school and being a mom. I’m really grateful for the CCAMPIS program. It helped me stay focused on my goals without having to choose between my education and being a parent. I’m set to graduate in 2026, and programs like this are the reasons I can keep pushing forward. Thank you for supporting students like me, it truly makes a difference.”
