Lisa was a stay-at-home mom going through a divorce, with very limited computer skills. A friend recommended PT, which Lisa calls, “The perfect program, everything I needed!” She went from thinking, “Who was ever going to hire me?” to “Wait, I do have so many skills to offer”, and she vigilantly practiced her new computer skills to reinvent herself. PT taught her how to create a modern, formatted résumé, deliver a confident elevator pitch, search for jobs online and interview effectively. She is now in her 5th year as an Administrative Assistant at a great company and will be interviewing for the next level, Executive Assistant. Full circle: Lisa gives back to PT by sending us job openings for our current students
“At the age of forty, I found myself unemployed and unemployable for the first time in my life. I had overcome the debilitating depression and addiction issues which brought me to that point, yet finding another job felt impossible. As a single mother of two children, I had no choice but to work. I heard about Project Transition and figured it was worth a try. The program completely changed the trajectory of my life. I found direction. I gained self-esteem. I felt hopeful for the first time in years. After completing the program, I was able to find a well-paying and satisfying job. More importantly, I was able to start on a new and promising career path which offered room for growth. I can’t say enough about the Project Transition program, so I’ll just keep it simple. It was a bridge back to life. I am grateful. I am incredibly hopeful for the future. I feel as though I see opportunities instead of roadblocks now.”
