Welcome to the School of Health Sciences and Wellness at SUNY Westchester Community College!
Our school offers a broad range of programs designed to meet the needs of today’s essential industries—from Nursing, Respiratory Care, and Radiologic Technology to Health and Human Performance, Culinary Arts, and more. Whether your passion lies in patient care, health information technologies, or community health, you’ll find a rigorous, career-focused education here.
Many of our programs include clinical or lab-based components, ensuring you gain both the theoretical knowledge and practical experience necessary for success. Our state-of-the-art facilities and dedicated faculty prepare students to meet industry certifications, licensing requirements, and high employer expectations.

Community Health & Case Management Certificate
The Community Health and Case Management Certificate prepares students to work on the frontline in the fields of public health, health care and human services. Coursework is focused on the theoretical knowledge, ethical practices and core competencies needed to assist individuals and families in need of medical, mental health and social services.

Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management A.A.S.
Graduates of the Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management program are prepared for employment in middle management positions such as assistants to: managers, supervisors of food production and service, event planners, caterers, stewards, banquet managers, rooms division managers, operations managers, purchasing agents, chefs, pastry chefs or bakers. With additional education and/or experience, upward mobility is unlimited.

Interested in the fields of health, fitness, and wellness? The Health and Human Performance program builds a strong foundation for students interested in transferring to a four-year college with related degree programs including: Exercise Science, Exercise Physiology, Sports Medicine, Athletic Training, Kinesiology, Movement Science, Physical Education Instruction, Sports Studies, and more.

Health Information Technology A.A.S.
Learn to record, integrate, and report patient data securely through classroom and practical experiences with specialized computer applications. The Health Information Technology A.A.S. prepares you to manage patient data in a diverse range of health care settings. Certificates in Medical Coding and Medical Billing may be applied toward the A.A.S. in Health Information Technology. The Medical Billing Certificate leads to credentialing as a Certified Professional Biller. The Medical Coding Certificate prepares you for certification exams.

Health Studies A.S.
This program introduces students to broad range of healthcare issues to help prepare them for transfer into a bachelor’s degree program in healthcare or a wide selection of health related careers. The multidisciplinary design of the program permits students to take courses in a variety of health-related disciplines such as nutrition, health education, first aid/safety, and anatomy and physiology.

Nursing A.A.S.
The associate nursing program at Westchester Community College has been granted initial accreditation by the Board of Commissioners of the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). The effective date for initial accreditation of the associate nursing program is May 24, 2017 with the next evaluation visit scheduled for Spring 2025.
Nutrition A.S.
The growing public interest in nutrition has greatly expanded job opportunities in the field of foods, nutrition, and dietetics. Nutrition professionals, Certified Dietary Managers, and Registered Dietitians/Nutritionists are employed in a variety of healthcare facilities, school systems and as consultants. Foods and Nutrition combines the basics of nutrition care with science and liberal arts courses that will prepare you for transfer and eligibility for the ANFP Certified Dietary Manager credential exam.
Paramedic A.A.S.
The Paramedic program prepares students for careers as paramedics, the most advanced pre-hospital EMS provider. In addition to certification by the New York State Department of Health, paramedic students have the opportunity to become Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician–Paramedics (NREMT-P). The paramedic program of Westchester Community College is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs upon the recommendation of the Committee on Accreditation of Educational Programs for the Emergency Medical Services Professions.
Paramedic Certificate
The Paramedic program prepares students for careers as paramedics, the most advanced pre-hospital EMS provider. In addition to certification by the New York State Department of Health, paramedic students have the opportunity to become Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician–Paramedics (NREMT-P). Personal Training Certificate
Personal Trainers are fitness professionals who educate clients of all ages in multiple aspects of fitness and wellness. They work in settings such as public and private fitness centers, schools, adult centers and corporate wellness programs. Graduates of this program will be qualified to work as personal trainers or fitness instructors, and subsequently, may sit for the certification exam through the National Council on Strength and Fitness (NCSF).
Radiologic Technology A.A.S.
Imaging technology is advancing fast, which puts radiologic technologists at the front and center of innovation. As the population grows and ages, demand for diagnostic imaging is projected to increase. Upon completion of the program, students are can sit for the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) examination. When the examination is passed, the graduate will be granted a license issued by NYSDOH to practice Radiography.
Respiratory Care A.A.S.
Respiratory care is vital in life saving and life support situations. Respiratory therapists are involved in the treatment, management, control, diagnostic evaluation, and care of patients with deficiencies and abnormalities associated with the cardiopulmonary system. These patients may be in newborn nurseries, surgical and medical units, emergency rooms, intensive care units, extended care facilities, and homes. Students will get handson experience with patients at local hospitals.
Veterinary Technology A.A.S.
Veterinary technology is the art and science of using an understanding of basic animal science, biological testing, and animal behavior to assist the veterinarian in the care of animals. The program prepares graduates to sit for the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE), and seek employment in animal/veterinary-related fields. In the state of New York, individuals who complete a Veterinary Technology Program accredited by the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA), achieve a passing grade on the VTNE and are of good moral standing are eligible to apply for licensure.
