The Great Hunger in Ireland Part 1
Will cover the early history of Ireland and Oliver Cromwell’s hatred of the Irish people and his imposition of draconian laws that decimated the population of Ireland for centuries. His laws and the British Parliament’s treatment over the centuries of the Irish people would eventually lead to The Great Hunger, which reduced the Irish population in 7 years from 9 million people to less than 5 million. Students will be given handouts, shown videos and listen to author Tom Riley as he sets the scene of the conditions that led to The Great Hunger in Ireland. CE-HIST 2165, 4 Tues., Feb. 6-22, 6:30-8:30 pm, $110. T Riley. #27000
