The Physical Plant is always improving and expanding on our campus facilities.

Across all projects we are improving energy efficiency and reducing our environmental impact.

Upcoming Projects

Roof Replacements
– The college has continued to improve on Roofs through a 7 phase project. With each new roof, the college has reduced leaks across campus and now hold 20 year warranties on replaced roofs.

  • The Science and Hankin Academic Arts Buildings are getting new roofs the summer of 2025.
  • The Harold L. Drimmer Library is having the gutters repaired over the main reading room, on the south side of the building.
  • The Physical Education Building roof is planned to be replaced during the summer of 2026.
  • The Knollwood Building roof is planned to be replaced in 2025/2026.

Site Improvements – The college has over 3000 parking spaces across campus, and they need upgrades and improvements, but not just with pavement. In this multiphase project, the college is also improving storm water run off using rain gardens, providing better access for members of the community, and encouraging cleaner driving solutions through ride share initiatives and installing electric vehicle charging stations.

  • Technology Building Area – The pathways around the Technology Building will be upgraded and new dual plug electric vehicle charging stations will be installed in parking lots 8 and 11.

Future work – Parking Lots 1, 2, and J, the service roads that run through the center of campus, and parts of the road around the main campus will be repaved.

Infrastructure Upgrades – The college has many moving parts in each building, and nothing lasts forever, so regular upgrades and improvements are required to maintain the buildings and keep them up to codes, standards, but most of all keep them safe and comfortable learning and work spaces.

Library Window Replacement – The windows on the north side of the building are original to the building when they were built in 1967. With many draft and water penetration issues, these windows will be replaced this summer of 2025.

Knollwood and Virgina Marx Children’s Center – These two buildings are getting upgrades to Air Conditioning and Heating systems, electrical and lighting systems, and some internal and external renovations. The Virginia Marx Children’s Center is also getting a new playground.

Hartford Hall, Student Center, & Bookstore – These buildings are getting some internal and external renovations, and the Bookstore is getting a new Roof Top Unit for Air Conditioning and supplemental heat and a new water boiler.

Hankin Academic Arts Building – The theater’s stage rigging system will be replaced, new lighting will be installed, and sprinklers will be installed through the building.

Science Building – The Science Simulation Laboratory will be completed for the Fall 2025 semester. The building will also get additional external renovations, some supplemental air conditioning, and sprinkler installed throughout the building.

Maintenance Buildings – Maintenance I and III will be receiving an upgrade to the electrical system and some external renovations and new lighting. The Residence House will be renovated for better use by the college staff.

Gas Main Extension – The campus has made strides to reduce its carbon footprint. In doing so, it is essential to expand our facilities to better serve the community and help the environment. The college will extend the natural gas main that serves the majority of campus to also serve the Maintenance Buildings, Knollwood Building, and the Virgina Marx Children’s Center. This will allow the college to use natural gas or oil in all building across campus to better use the college’s resources and provide more cleaner energy.

Administration Building Expansion and Renovations – The Administration Building is the first building on campus at which most Students start their journey at the college. The intention is to make this the main hub for all students interested in coming and getting started at the college. We have started this multiphase project with a current upgrade to new controls for the air conditioning and heating systems. The college will also be replacing four rooftop air conditioning units on the roof and a new sanitary pump pit later this year. The next steps of the project will be to expand the South side of the building. This expansion will make room for a new testing center and more space for counseling. Once expanded, the existing spaces will also be renovated, bringing the whole building up to date. The newly expanded and renovated Administration Building will serve as a one-stop location for all students to matriculate and continue their journey here at the college.
