Workstation Engineer Intern

LOCATION: SUNY Westchester Community College (WCC), Valhalla
DURATION: Semester long, 15 weeks
PAY: Westchester County Minimum Wage for up to 120 Hours
Overview
This internship provides SUNY WCC students with hands-on experience in IT support and workstation management. Interns will apply classroom knowledge in a professional setting while being mentored by experienced engineers and supervised by WCC staff/faculty.
Key Responsibilities / Examples of Work
- Assist with imaging, deploying, and maintaining desktop, laptop, printers, and mobile devices.
- Support software installations and updates.
- Troubleshoot hardware and software issues.
- Work with IT asset management and enterprise desktop tools.
- Provide first level technical assistance to the college community.
- Receive and inventory new technology assets.
- Perform data destruction following departmental procedures.
Learning Objectives
- Apply technical knowledge to real-world IT support scenarios.
- Develop troubleshooting and customer service skills.
- Understand the lifecycle of workstation hardware/software.
- Research/Evaluate new technologies for considered usage.
Required Qualifications
Eligibility
- GPA: 2.5 or better, student in good standing
- 24 hours of earned credits at time of internship
- Approval of Curriculum Char or other Faculty in Major
- Ability to work 8 hours a week/120 hours over the semester in the internship
- Must be enrolled at SUNY WCC in an industry related degree program (e.g., CS or CIS).
Supervision & Evaluation
- Learning objectives developed collaboratively with faculty and supervisor.
- Midterm and final evaluations required.
- Regular attendance and participation required.
Pay: Westchester County Minimum Wage for up to 120 hours.
