Social Media Content Creator

Location: WCC, Valhalla Campus

Under the general supervision of the Assistant Director of Student Involvement for Marketing, the Social Media Content Creator will support the development and execution of promotional campaigns for FSA Dining Services. This role includes collaborating closely with the Assistant Director to create engaging video content and other social media materials aimed at connecting with the campus community, with a focus on current students.

This internship provides an exciting opportunity for students to build their portfolios, develop industry-relevant skills, and contribute to SUNY WCC’s digital presence.

Qualifications:

  1. Currently pursuing an Associate degree at SUNY Westchester Community College.
  2. GPA: 2.5 or better, and student in good standing.
  3. Ability to work 8 hours a week/120 hours over the semester in the internship.
  4. Approval of Curriculum Chair in Major.
  5. Basic video recording and editing skills (experience with apps like CapCut, Adobe Rush, or Canva is a plus).
  6. Strong interest or prior experience in social media, content marketing, and digital marketing.
  7. Self-motivated, detail oriented, organized, and effective communicator (both written and oral).
  8. Ability to work well in a team and interact with diverse groups.
  9. Positive attitude and be authentic.

Job Responsibilities:   

  1. Capture photos and videos to create short-form social media content that engages the student community.
  2. Conduct on-the-spot interviews with students, faculty, and staff to showcase diverse dining perspectives and experiences at SUNY WCC.
  3. Edit footage into polished, branded content using mobile and desktop editing tools, ensuring alignment with FSA Dining Services’ messaging.
  4. Stay up to date on trends, challenges, sounds, and formats to keep content fresh and relevant. Collaborate with the Student Life marketing team on content scheduling, campaign ideas, and promotional materials.
