About SUNY Westchester Peekskill, Center for the Digital Arts Dr. Sherry Mayo, Director L ocated in the heart of Peekskill’s downtown artist district, the SUNY Westchester Peekskill Center for the Digital Arts offers a wide range of opportunities for students and the local community. Residents can start their college journey closer to home through credit-bearing liberal arts and humanities courses. The center also provides a robust English as a Second Language (ESL) program, supporting the needs of the diverse local community. Cutting-Edge Workforce Digital Arts and Credit Interactive Technology Programs The Peekskill Center is a hub for digital arts education, featuring five state-of-the-art post-production studios. Students can pursue training in: • Mixed Reality (XR) • Game Design • Web Design • 3D Animation • Illustration and 2D Animation • Artificial Intelligence for Business Owners • Digital Photography and Advanced Digital Photography • Social Media Specialist Training • Adobe Certification (Photoshop and Illustrator) The center also offers non-credit courses for adults, including computer training and studio arts, as well as a vibrant Youth Arts Technology Program during the summer. State-of-the-Art Facilities The 20,000-square-foot facility includes: •11 smart classrooms •5 post-production studios •A Makerspace with 7 3D printers •75 Apple workstations and 15 Microsoft Surface devices, all dedicated to digital arts education A Community Hub for Learning and Growth Serving approximately 1,000 students annually, the Peekskill Center is a cornerstone of the local community. Conveniently located near cultural centers, galleries, and restaurants, it provides comprehensive student services, including: • Admissions and academic advising • Financial aid assistance • Registrar and bursar services • Academic support, workshops, and student activities The center also plays a key role in workforce development, helping adults build essential skills for today’s job market. Summer 2026 Youth Arts Technology Program This summer, the Peekskill Center will offer its dynamic Youth Arts Technology Program, now reimagined as a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics) curriculum. The program fosters creativity, problem-solving, collaboration, and critical thinking—essential 21st-century skills. This program offers students the chance to collaborate, express their creativity, and develop digital and manual skills. Each student will create a portfolio project to showcase their work. DATES: Session 1: July 6–16 (Monday–Thursday, no Fridays) Session 2: July 20–30 (Monday–Thursday, no Fridays) Program Highlights Students will explore technology-driven art forms through hands-on projects, such as: • Painting and Drawing with live models to enhance observational skills • Coding and Robotics, learning to code and control robots • Game Design, developing digital games from concept to creation Historic Preservation Historic Preservation for impassioned individuals who wish to research, conserve, and protect the multitude of historic sites throughout New York State. This program offers students the chance to collaborate, express their creativity, and develop digital and manual skills. Each student will create a portfolio project to showcase their work.
