Steven Salvatore is a young adult author and educator. Steven’s debut novel, The Other Side of Silence, will be published by Bloomsbury in the winter of 2021. The novel is about a genderqueer student who dreams of being a diva like their hero Mariah Carey. When they are cast in the lead female role in the school musical, they must fight against the school administration’s closed-mindedness. Steven prefers the term queer (identifying as both gay and genderqueer), and uses pronouns he/him/ his (more regularly) or they/them. He currently teaches at Westchester Community College and Pace University.
The reading and lecture series lets the best of today’s writers share their secrets with literary aficionados. Presentations take place in the Gateway Center — Davis Auditorium. (Free and open to the public)
