Dr. Mae Ngai is an American historian and Lung Family Professor of Asian American Studies and Professor of History at Columbia University. She focuses on nationalism, citizenship, ethnicity, and race in 20th-century United States history.
The Westchester Community College Humanities Institute is a natural and logical extension of the College’s intellectual commitment to immigrant education. The humanities include many forms of artistic expression, intellectual inquiry, and ordinary life through which people explore the meanings and challenges of human experience. Moreover, they offer a framework for current debates about nationality, individuality, citizenship, borders, inclusivity, social justice, and cultural identity.
All events are free of charge and open to the public. For more information, please call or e-mail Dr. Heather Ostman, (914) 606-6837 or Heather.Ostman@sunywcc.edu
