We will discuss Melville’s story, “Bartleby the Scrivener,” from many angles, but always keeping in mind that it is a piece of writing anxious about its aspirations from the start; the story and story-telling leads right into the deep shadows of American modernity at its most grim and sad.
Free and open to the community.
