Building Bridges: Understanding the Value of Design in Architecture
Hosted by the Philosophia Honor Society and led By Carolina Mendoza
Date: Wednesday, March 29, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
Location: SUNY Westchester Valhalla, Harold L. Drimmer Library, Room LIB-320
Philosophia Honor Society is holding an event that will help students learn about architecture and design from everyday structures, in this case the bridge. Students learn to appreciate and understand that design is key with it comes to building structures that must support large amounts of mass. All are welcome to participate, and in this exercise, students will be partnered in teams to build a bridge using popsicle sticks and duct tape under a certain amount of time. By the end, the team that builds the bridge that holds the designated weight the longest will win.
