Ronald L. Bloom received the BS and MA from Buffalo State University and the University of Maine, respectively. While completing a PhD in Speech and Hearing Science at the City University of New York, Graduate School, Dr. Bloom served as clinical supervisor and associate director of the City College Speech and Hearing Center. In addition, was a research assistant at the Neurolinguistics Lab of the CUNY Graduate Center. His doctoral dissertation focused on the dissolution of discourse in patients with unilateral right and left brain damage.
Dr. Bloom is Professor Emeritus at Hofstra University where taught classes in Research Methods, Aphasia, Neuromotor Speech Disorders and Aging. His scholarship has been in the area of acquired disorders of language in adults with aphasia. He has edited two books on the topic, written numerous book chapters, and has over 40 published peer-reviewed articles and presentations at national and international conferences, many with student coauthors. He has also written and lectured on teaching evidence-based practices using a case based approach. Dr. Bloom served as Chair of the Department of Speech-Language-Hearing Sciences and as Acting Dean of the School of Health Sciences and Human Services at Hofstra University.
