Hello Accounting Students:
This is an exciting time in the field of accounting! According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of accountants and auditors is projected to grow 10 percent from 2016 to 2026, faster than the average for all occupations. And, with all of the new technology affecting accountants, the jobs are more interesting than ever.
Here at Westchester Community College your faculty are all experienced professionals in the fields of accounting, tax, and finance. All of the full-timers, and most of the adjuncts, are CPAs or credentialed finance professionals with Master’s degrees. We work hard to keep up with the many changes in tax laws and accounting regulations. As a whole, we have many years of teaching experience and keep innovating to make the classroom a dynamic, relevant experience for you.
We know that students who get involved on campus have a richer experience! Be sure to join the Accounting Club, which holds many interesting events during the year that will allow you to meet local professionals and Westchester Community College alumni. If you are an excellent student, join our group of peer tutors who help other students navigate their challenging accounting courses. There are many other ways to get involved on campus and grow as a person and prepare for your future life as an accounting professional.
We hope you will join the many successful Westchester Community College alumni who are finishing their degrees or working in the field of accounting. You will likely meet some at your future school or at work. We believe that you will find, as so many of these prior students have, that we live our Accounting Club motto, “Growing Students into Professionals!”
See you in class and on campus. Stop in if there is anything I can do to help you achieve your goals.
