Message from Dr. Belinda S. Miles – May 18, 2015
As we prepare to pause and celebrate the achievement of our students at the 2015 graduation, I write to thank you for the wonderful Westchester welcome that I received this semester! The support that I received during this transitional period has been heartening and although there is much that still needs to be done, I believe we have set the stage for great achievements in the near future.
We have travelled quite a distance in the four and a half months since I arrived. Our student success objectives are focusing us on what matters most for student learning and achievement outcomes. Our workforce and community engagement interests are attracting new and renewed industry, K-12, and university partners. Our stewardship focus has already resulted in passing a significant hurdle with the Middle States reaccreditation process. Finally, our campus culture has been enhanced by more open dialogue including an established negotiation process where we have already laid the groundwork for future agreements with both staff and faculty unions.
We have done a lot in a short amount of time and I look forward to new achievements over the summer, through the fall, and beyond. Again, thank you for your assistance and support. I am truly looking forward to the next steps of the journey!
