Message from Dr. Belinda S. Miles: Bright Futures and Celebrations
December 18, 2020
“I have been working every day since I was fifteen; I make time for my studies, I am determined. Above all else, I am grateful. I immensely appreciate the faith you had in me as a student. I vow to make you, this college and anyone else, proud. Thank you for giving me the chance… to do so.”
Gustavo A., WCC Student
Colleagues,
This year has been filled with insurmountable challenges, heartache, grief, uncertainty, and fear. Through all that we have experienced, this year has also brought our college community moments of accomplishment, success, joy, celebration, innovation, and a sense of all we can achieve when we work together toward a common goal.
The opening quote, submitted by a student, speaks to all you do to help students succeed. All that you do has value – to your colleagues, to the institution, to our community, and especially to our students. As we celebrate our 72nd Commencement at 6:00 PM on Tuesday, December 22, I am confident that our graduates are well-prepared for transfer or to take their places in our regional workforce.
Let us look with optimism to the hopeful and bright future that awaits us in 2021 and beyond. I share greetings and thank you all for the work, dedication, determination, and camaraderie you have shared this year. Your contributions have added to the strong foundation that supports all we do to serve our students and our community.
Wishing you and your loved ones a safe and healthy holiday season.
