Upcoming Fall 2024 and Spring 2025 Certificate Programs SUNY Westchester Peekskill • 27North Division Street Peekskill NY10566• 914-606-7300 9 Historic Preservation Certificate–140Hrs This one-year, non-credit certificate program begins in the fall and serves students and professionals interested in establishing credentials in the area of Historic Preservation in a multitude of job sectors: building tradessuchaswoodworkingandstone masonry as well as areas such as historic site management, artifact conservation and more. There is no other certificate program in Historic Preservation offered at a community college in New York State. The 140-hour program is half classwork and half directed historic preservation fieldwork. One elective is required to fulfill the certificate. Spring 2025 Web Design Certificate – 64 Hrs Learn design principles and front-end programming using languages such as HTML, CSS, and JavaScript in this non-credit remote synchronous certificate program that starts in spring 2025. Students will learn to use tools like Chrome Devtools, Adobe Photoshop, and Dreamweaver. Students will utilize the design thinking process to work as a collaborative web development team to prototype, evaluate, and test a finished portfolio piece. Portfolio pieceswillbeonlinewebsites ready for professional use. News at SUNY Westchester Center for the Digital Arts The Center for the Digital Arts Gallery celebrated its 30th Anniversary with a Student Showcase Exhibition in Spring 2024, highlighting the work of credit and non-credit students and alumni. This group exhibition honored their contributions, showcasing their achievements and the diverse programs offered by the center. The exhibition featured students from including Art & Design A.S., Digital Filmmaking A.A.S., ITECH A.A.S., non-credit Workforce Development Certificates, Adobe Certification, and Community Arts. It provided a comprehensive view of the center’s curriculum and demonstrated its dynamic approach to education and artmaking. The reception for the exhibition took place on February 22, from 5:30 to 7:30pm at the center. During the event, student artists were recognized with juried awards in categories such as 3D, Illustration and 2D Animation, Digital Photography, and Fine Arts with awards presented at four levels: First, Second, Third, and Honorable Mention. Recipients of first, second, or thirdplacereceived Amazongiftcards.Thejurywascomprised of faculty members specializing in different areas of art. For the reception more than 50 people turned out, including student artists, their families, faculty, staff, and community members. Twelve of the sixteen awardees were present to receivetheirawards, makingtheeventarewardingexperience for all involved.
