Upcoming Fall Certificate Programs Remote Mixed Reality (XR) Certificate – 84 Hrs Learn the tools and knowledge to create mixed reality worlds in this intensive online non-credit two-semester certificate program beginning in the fall. Acquire skills in game design, 3D modeling, game programming, and mixed reality design (virtual and augmented reality) that are attractive to employers in this in-demand field. Remote 3D Animation Certificate – 252 Hrs Explore the many facets of 3D animation in this intensive online non-credit twosemester certificate program beginning in the fall. This program will take students through the 3D animation production pipeline and cover many aspects of 3D creation. From modeling assets and characters to animating and final rendering, this program will guide you through the fundamental principles of 3D animation. Whether you are interested in film, video games, or commercial work, these courses will get you on the right trajectory. The culminating experience will be the creation of a demo reel for their portfolio to show employers or schools in order to continue on their career paths. Student demo reels will be featured in an exhibition. Prerequisite: Basic computer knowledge. Students must register for the entire program at time of registration. Remote Digital Photography Certificate – 126 Hrs Enhance your photography portfolio and hone your skills in this online non-credit two-semester certificate program. The culminating experience will be the creation of a photography portfolio and exhibition to share with family, friends, and potential employers in order to continue on their personal and professional pathways. The Digital Photography Certificate will provide new and motivated photographers with a foundation in practice and theory with lab exercises, assignments, and lecture demonstrations. Students will learn about the proper operation of a camera and achieving correct exposure, composition methods, post processing, and specialized photography. Throughout the experience, students will draw inspiration from the works of historical and contemporary photography. This program is an intensive course of study over two semesters beginning in the fall, with six individual courses. Students must register for the entire certificate program at time of registration. Hybrid Advanced Digital Photography Series Did you complete the Digital Photography Certificate or are you a capable photographer looking for a community with other photographers and to advance your skills? The Advanced Digital Photography series is for students who are post certificate or have received instructor permission. Students will expand on their technical and storytelling capabilities with hands-on technical training. These courses are hybrid (remote and in-person): Photo-shoots will be both outdoors and onsite, taking advantage of the extensive resources and specialized facility at the Center for the Digital Arts SUNY Westchester Peekskill. Software-based review sessions will be remote on Zoom. Students may register for either course but are highly encouraged to sign up for both. Part 1: finding the story in the environment Fall 2024 Part 2: focus on lighting Advanced Digital Photography continues with a concentration on lighting. Studio photo sessions will center on subjects such as tabletop arrangements, small object and food photography, and on to portrait shoots with a live model. We will then learn new tools and procedures using Photoshop for advanced retouching, including selection tools and layer masks. Students will prepare select images for printing, as well as an advanced personal portfolio. Photo-shoots will be in-person and critique reviews will be remote. CE-DGART 2127PE, $569.
