As in the past, awards will be made in the fall are for the entire academic year and those awarded in the spring are for one semester. Awards will be automatically renewed for a second year as long as the student continues to meet academic criteria. What is the Excelsior Scholarship? The Excelsior Scholarship (ie. ‘New York State Free Tuition’ law) provides free tuition at all SUNY and CUNY colleges for full-time students who meet its various requirements, including income, residency, and academic requirements. Students must first apply for FAFSA and TAP; Excelsior only covers any tuition amount left over after FAFSA and TAP have been applied. For current updates on the status of the Excelsior program, and for an application, please see: www.hesc.ny.gov Besides Pell, TAP or APTS, Excelsior, and Westchester Community College scholarships, is there any other type of aid available? There are federal student loans that must be repaid (see section above). Students with additional needs or emergency aid needs can contact Student Support Services by visiting their website at: https://www.sunywcc.edu/student-services/bac/ I’m a veteran and need to speak with someone; what should I do? Please contact the College’s Veterans Resource Center at Veterans@sunywcc.edu
