What’s my next step after I complete the questionnaires? Your next step is to meet with an Academic Counselor for advisement. You can sign in to speak with an Academic Counselor remotely at www.sunywcc.edu/getadvised . Students may also visit an Academic Counselor in-person and should visit www.sunywcc.edu/counseling for more information. After completing the questionnaires, you must wait one business day before speaking with an Academic Counselor who will be able to view your results. What if I disagree with the results of my placement questionnaires? If you disagree with the results of your placement questionnaires, you may request to take a proctored Challenge Exam. The Challenge Exam is the Next Generation Accuplacer. To request a proctored Challenge Exam, please go to www.sunywcc.edu/testingcenter and click on ‘Additional Placement Services’. Please note that valid photo ID is required. Challenge exams may be scheduled virtually over zoom or in-person at the Valhalla campus. Students that wish to change their placement from a college level course to a developmental or co-requisite course may complete a Change of Placement Request. This is to be completed with the assistance of an Academic Counselor. Please have the student discuss with an academic counselor. You are allowed to attempt a challenge exam a maximum of two times before the start of the academic semester, with a total limit of three attempts within an academic year. May you be reassessed once you have taken a course in a discipline? No, after you have attempted a course within a specific academic discipline, you will not be eligible for further retesting in that subject area unless granted special permission from that academic department. Placement for Chem 107 and Chem 111 Students interested in taking Chem 107 and Chem 111 who do not meet other prerequisites may take the Advanced Algebra and Functions Exam. Students that receive a Math placement of Math 42.01 by receiving an AAF score of 260 or higher are eligible to take Chem 107 or Chem 111.
