Security
Newsletter
Welcome back to the fall semester. In order
to assist students, faculty, and staff reduce the possibility of being a
victim of larceny, the security department recommends the following tips:
- Photocopy both sides of your license and
credit cards and store in a safe location at home. This will enable you to
notify credit card companies with the proper information.
- Do not bring excess cash or credit cards
to school.
- If your wallet is lost or stolen notify
the security office immediately by dialing extension 6730.
- Request the security office to have the
police notified. You will be the complainant and have to supply the police
with certain information.
- Cancel your credit cards immediately.
IN ADDITION
- Call the three national credit reporting
organizations immediately to place a fraud alert on your name and SS#.
The numbers are:
- 1-800-525-6285 (Equifax)
- 1-888-397-3742 (Experian, formerly TRW)
- 1-800-680-7289 (Trans Union)
IN ADDITION CALL THE SOCIAL SECURITY FRAUD
LINE AT 1-800-269-0271.
We hope everyone has a safe, enjoyable
semester. If we in the security office can be of assistance, please let us
know.
