Welcome back to the fall semester. In order to assist students, faculty, and staff reduce the possibility of being a victim of larceny, the security department recommends the following tips:

  1. Photocopy both sides of your license and credit cards and store in a safe location at home. This will enable you to notify credit card companies with the proper information.
     
  2. Do not bring excess cash or credit cards to school.
     
  3. If your wallet is lost or stolen notify the security office immediately by dialing extension 6730.
     
  4. Request the security office to have the police notified. You will be the complainant and have to supply the police with certain information.
     
  5. Cancel your credit cards immediately.
     
    IN ADDITION
     
  6. Call the three national credit reporting organizations immediately to place a fraud alert on your name and SS#.
     
    The numbers are:
    1. 1-800-525-6285 (Equifax)
    2. 1-888-397-3742 (Experian, formerly TRW)
    3. 1-800-680-7289 (Trans Union)
