TRANSFER SCHOLARSHIPS
TO FOUR-YEAR COLLEGES
All applicants for
scholarships to four-year colleges must have earned an Associate
degree and been accepted to one of the colleges listed to be
eligible for scholarships.
Bard College
Scholarships based on financial need and academic achievement range
from $2,000 to $24,000 annually.
Berkeley College
Five scholarships are awarded to Westchester Community College
graduates of up to $4,275 per year.
Boston University
Boston University awards a half-tuition grant to transfer students
who are outstanding leaders. Recipients must enroll as juniors at
Boston University with a minimum of 60 transferable credits.
Students also must be nominated by a Phi Theta Kappa chapter
advisor.
Clarkson University
Clarkson University offers one leadership award for $11,000 per
year, and one Transfer Achievement scholarship for $9,000 per year.
Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) and Alpha Beta Gamma (ABG) scholarships range
from $1,000 to $8,000 per year.
College of Mount
Saint Vincent
Resident students with a GPA of 3.5 or higher receive $12,000.
Commuter students receive $9,000 for a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Nursing
students must apply 4-6 weeks before the Fall semester.
College of New
Rochelle
CNR offers one 100% tuition scholarship for the School of Arts &
Sciences only, based on a GPA of 3.0 or better.
Columbia University
School of General Studies
Scholarships for deserving students ranging from $4,000-$6,000 per
year.
Concordia College
The following transfer scholarships are available to students who
have completed a minimum of 28 credits: Transfer Dean’s Scholarship
of $7,500, with a minimum GPA of 3.5; Transfer Academic Scholarship
of $6,000, with a minimum GPA of 3.0; Transfer Merit Scholarship of $5,000, with a minimum GPA of 2.0.
CUNY/Lehman College
Eligible students must have an Associate degree from Westchester
Community College with a 3.0 GPA. Two full tuition scholarships are
awarded to students in any major.
CUNY/Queens College
Students who transfer with an A.A. or an A.S. degree and a GPA of
3.5 or higher may receive scholarships in the amount of $2,000.
C.W. Post Long Island
University
A number of scholarships of up to $14,000 are awarded to graduates.
DeVry
Community College Scholarships: Partial tuition scholarships valued
at $1,500 per semester which may be applied to any of DeVry’s
full-time degree programs. Applicants must graduate in 2009 and
obtain an Associate degree. Eligibility is based on a student’s
final Associate GPA, which must be at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale.
Dominican College of
Blauvelt
Every transfer student receives a scholarship ranging from $1,000 to
$5,000, depending upon whether they are commuter or resident
students.
Fairleigh Dickinson
University
Phi Theta Kappa Scholarships up to $16,000 annually. Transfer
scholarships range from $7,000 to $14,000 annually.
Fordham University
A $10,000 scholarship will be awarded to a Westchester Community
College graduate transferring to Fordham College Rose Hill, the
College of Business Administration, or Fordham College Lincoln
Center as a full-time matriculated student. Student must demonstrate
strong academic accomplishments, leadership and involvement. The
scholarship is offered to one student.
Hofstra University
Academic scholarships range from $3,000 to $10,000. Minimum GPA of
3.0 required. PTK scholarships of $1,500 annually.
CUNY/Hunter College
Merit-based scholarships for full-time transfer students are
available. Award amounts and length of scholarship vary. Students
must complete the CUNY Transfer application and list Hunter College
as their first choice. Upon acceptance, students must also fill out
an online scholarship application.
Iona College
One full-tuition scholarship (less state aid) is awarded to the
Business graduate with the highest GPA. PTK scholarships range from
$3,000-$9,000 per year, based on overall GPA.
Johnson & Wales
University
Students who demonstrate financial need, superior academic
achievement, or other circumstances will be considered for grants,
loans, scholarships and other forms of aid.
Laboratory Institute
of Merchandising (LIM)
One scholarship for half tuition for two years awarded to the
graduate with a minimum GPA of 3.50 and financial need. Unlimited
transfer grants of $3,000 and merit awards up to $2,000 awarded to
graduates with a 3.0. Student must be accepted no later than April.
Manhattan College
One $10,000 scholarship to an engineering or science student with
the highest GPA.
Manhattanville
College
A $12,000 scholarship is offered to a WCC graduate with the highest
GPA. In addition, any student with a 2.5 or better GPA is awarded a
scholarship ranging from $5,500 to $10,000.
Mercy College
One Business scholarship in the amount of $13,370 awarded to a
student with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. One Liberal Arts scholarship in
the amount of $13,370 awarded to the student with a 3.5 GPA or
higher. Additional general scholarships are also awarded.
Monroe College
A number of scholarships of up to $1,000 are awarded to graduates.
Mount Holyoke College
Applicants must have a minimum of 30 credits in Liberal Arts and a
3.0 GPA. Mt. Holyoke will meet full need of admitted applicants who
are financially needy. Frances Perkins Program- special program for
non-traditional aged students and veterans.
New York Institute of Technology (NYIT)
Scholarships in amounts varying from $2,000 to $11,000 are available
to WCC graduates with an Associate’s degree in Marketing, and who
enroll full-time in the Business Administration curriculum. Students
must transfer with a GPA of 2.0 or higher. If WCC students transfer
with 24 credits or more and have a 2.5 or higher GPA, they will be
offered between $5,000 and $9,000.
New York University
Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human
Development-Community College Transfer Opportunity (CCTOP) Program
An unlimited number of scholarships of up to $20,000 per year are
awarded to students who have completed at least 48 transferrable
credits with a minimum 3.0 GPA, and who wish to transfer to any
major offered by Steinhardt or the NYU School of Social Work (see
www.Steinhardt.nyu.edu/CCTOP for a list of eligible majors). All
eligible students receive an $8,000 merit scholarship. Additional
need-based awards, up to $12,000, are determined by FAFSA
information. Students must submit a nomination form signed by a WCC
faculty member. PTK scholarships—students with a 3.8 GPA or better
are eligible for an additional $2500 per year.
Pace University
Pace University Full Scholarships: One to Lubin School of
Business and one to Dyson College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. ABG
and PTK: A letter from the chapter advisor must be submitted for a
$1,000 per year scholarship.
Transfer Dean’s Scholarship and Transfer
Incentive awards, which are based on academic history. Below are
estimated awards based on GPA.

Sacred Heart
University
Scholarships awarded to eligible students which may consist of
needs-based grants and merit scholarships.
Smith College
Women who are at least 24 years old (or will turn 24 during their
first semester), have a dependent other than a spouse or are
veterans must apply to Smith through the Ada Comstock Scholars
Program. The Ada Comstock Scholars Program combines the rigorous
academic challenges of Smith with flexibility for women beyond the
traditional college age by providing options for reduced course
loads, special academic advising, career counseling and diverse
housing options. Financial aid is available to each woman with
demonstrated need.
Southern Vermont
College
Two non-need based scholarships of $5000 each are awarded to WCC
transfer students with a minimum GPA of 3.0 GPA, for a maximum of
two-years. A student is required to live on campus one of the two
years.
St. John’s University
Transfer students receive up to $10,000, depending on academic
record. To be considered, transfer students must have earned a
minimum of 24 credits from an accredited institution of higher
learning. Recipients have an average GPA of over 2.5. Eligibility is
determined based on the overall strength of the academic pool.
SUNY/Albany
Three non-need based scholarships are awarded to outstanding
students, ideally representative of the diverse community college
transfer population. A minimum GPA of 3.5 is required for
consideration. Scholars receive $1,000 for each of their two years
at SUNY Albany.
SUNY/Brockport
Faculty Scholar Award: An award of $1,000 annually is available for
students with an incoming cumulative GPA of at least 3.75 and an
Associate degree or Junior status. Transfer students may receive the
Faculty Scholarship for up to two years.
SUNY/Maritime
$1,500 per year awarded to graduates with a minimum 3.0 GPA.
SUNY/Old Westbury
Merit-based scholarships are awarded to transfer students who
exhibit a commitment to learning and leadership.
SUNY/Plattsburgh
Transfer Achievement Scholarship: GPA of 3.5 and higher ($500) and
an additional $500 Transfer Housing Grant if the student needs
on-campus housing.
SUNY/Purchase
Resident Community College Scholar: Students with a 3.7 GPA or
higher and an AA or AS prior to enrollment will receive $2,500
scholarship. Non-NYS Resident: Students with a 3.7 GPA or higher and
an AA or AS prior to enrollment will receive $3,500.
University of
Rochester
Merit scholarships range from $3,000 to $10,000 a year. PTK members
are awarded a minimum of $5,000 annually.
Wellesley College
Women over the age of 24 may apply to the Elizabeth Kaiser Davis
degree program for non-traditional students. Financial aid is
need-based and available for all who qualify.
