SCHOLARSHIPS FOR
INCOMING STUDENTS
Recent high school graduates or other
students who have little or no post-high school education.
Nancy Jo Abeles Scholarships
These scholarships are given to incoming students of merit who
demonstrate potential and plan to attend Westchester Community
College full-time. The award amount may vary from year to year, but
is approximately $2,500 per year.
Esther Dutton Kates Fellowship
At the behest of Paul W. Kates, this two-year fellowship is awarded
annually to a single(unmarried, divorced or widowed) mother in need
of financial assistance planning to attend Westchester Community
College full-time for two years. The fellowship provides support in
any field of study, and the award amount ranges from $2,000 to
$3,000 for each year.
A & J Economos Science Scholarships
These scholarships provide for full payment of tuition, along with a
book stipend, to two incoming freshmen students intending to study
science at Westchester Community College. These scholarships are
renewable for the students’ second year. Preference will be given to
those enrolled in the FIRST Robotics Teams at Saunders, Riverside,
or Roosevelt High Schools in Yonkers.
Olivia J. Moshier Memorial Scholarship
Established by the family of Olivia J. Moshier, this award of
$500-$1,000 assists a new student who intends to pursue either a
business or fine arts major, demonstrates high potential, and has
economic need.
Westchester Community College Faculty
Student Scholarship
Funded by contributions from the college faculty, this award is
given to a new student who has demonstrated outstanding academic
achievement in his or her high school career. The scholarship will
be renewable at full tuition for the recipient’s second year if a
3.25 GPA is achieved.
