Important Application Instructions

Online Scholarship Application - Click the link to Apply!

The Westchester Community College Foundation is pleased to announce the launch of its first-ever, completely online scholarship application process! The Scholarship Office of the Foundation will host information sessions on the new system in the Fall semester.

MyWCC Account Activation
Before you apply, please make sure you have activated your MyWCC account. Click here to be redirected to Westchester Community College’s portal, MyWCC, for instructions on how to activate your account: https://mywcc.sunywcc.edu/psp/epprd/EMPLOYEE/EMPL/h/?tab=PAPP_GUEST. Students must an active User ID and password in order to apply.

If you are a new, incoming student who has not yet applied, please go to our admissions page to complete an application now: http://www.sunywcc.edu/admissions/admissions_app/admissions_app.htm. You will not be able to apply for a scholarship until your application is complete, and you have been assigned a MyWCC User ID and password.

What Do I Need for My Application?
Before you begin, please note the following:

  • You will need to attach a PERSONAL STATEMENT, which is an essay (of no less than 250 words) summarizing your primary accomplishments to date and your future goals. Refer to the Student Guide to Scholarships & Awards for “Hints for the Personal Statement.”  Application for a particular award does not eliminate you from consideration for other awards.
  • You will need to upload a copy of your most recent, complete TRANSCRIPT from WCC. Transcripts may be printed from your MyWCC account.
  • You will need two letters of recommendation.  Ask two people to complete them for you, taking careful note that letters from teachers, counselors, or employers strengthen your application. Letters from friends are generally unacceptable. At least one letter of recommendation MUST be from a WCC faculty member who taught--or is currently teaching--you. Please ask your recommenders for their email contact information, as you will need to enter these online.
  • Other documents may be required.

Other Items of Note
Please note that, once uploaded, all documents become the property of the Westchester Community College Foundation, and will not be returned. 

After the application deadline, keep checking your MyWCC account to see if you were recommended for a scholarship.  Fall awards will generally be announced by email in late June, and Spring awards by mid-December. Be sure that your email address will allow you to receive scholarship communications from scholarships@sunywcc.edu!
