Transfer Scholarships
All applicants for scholarships to four-year colleges must have earned an Associate's degree, or the required number of credits a college requires. Applicants must have applied and have been accepted to one of the colleges listed in order to be considered.

Students must follow the following steps in order to apply for a scholarship:

  1. Start the process early (at the beginning of the Spring semester).
  2. File an application for admission to the appropriate college(s) no later than March 1st.
  3. Have an official Westchester Community College transcript sent to the college(s) of your choice.
  4. The Scholarship Committee will receive a list of all the students who have been accepted to a particular college(s).
  5. The Westchester Community College Scholarship Committee will contact you if any additional materials have to be submitted or if an interview is required.
  6. The Scholarship Committee will notify all awardees.
     

Available Scholarships to Four Year Colleges
All applicants for scholarships to four-year colleges must have earned an associate degree, have applied and been accepted to one of the colleges listed to be eligible for scholarships.

  • Bennington College B.A./M.A. in Teaching
    Bennington College Teaching Scholarships: Community college students studying to be teachers and accepted into the BA/MAT program. Up to $23,000 for undergraduate study and one-half of Master’s year tuition.
     
  • Berkeley College
    Five scholarships, up to $5,000 each for Associate degree graduates with a GPA of 3.0 or higher entering a bachelor of business administration program.
     
  • Boston University
    PTK: Chapter advisors are invited to nominate two students, who have 60 transferable credit hours, for half-tuition awards. These awards are renewable.
     
  • Clarkson University
    The Clarkson Transfer Leadership Award: One student to receive $10,000 per year. Achievement Scholarship: One student nominated to receive $8,000 per year. These awards recognize students who demonstrate strong leadership qualities, positively impact their college and local community. PTK and ABG: Scholarships of up to $8,000 per year (minimum GPA is 3.25).
     
  • College of Mount Saint Vincent
    Academic Scholarships: Available to eligible Westchester Community College students who have a cumulative GPA of 3.0-3.49–$5,000; 3.5-4.0–$7,000 (for commuters) or $8,000 (for residents). The graduate with the highest cumulative GPA of all Westchester Community College applicants to CMSV is eligible for a $10,000/year academic scholarship which is awarded for spring and fall semesters. Elizabeth Seton Service Award: Westchester Community College graduates with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or higher, who have demonstrated strong leadership through outstanding service and activities are eligible for approximately $1,000.
     
  • College of New Rochelle
    Transfer scholarships: Ranging from $1,000 - full tuition based on GPA of 3.0 or higher. PTK: Scholarships. The School of New Resources (adult baccalaureate program) offers a variety of scholarships.
     
  • Columbia University School of General Studies
    One new student incentive scholarship; two PTK scholarships; and three institutional scholarships are available to eligible students.
     
  • Concordia College
    Phi Theta Kappa $8500 with at GPA of 3.5. Alpha Beta Gamma $6000 with GPA 3.0. Social Work Scholarship $5000 with a GPA 3.0. Transfer Academic will be based on the transfer GPA up to $6000.
     
  • CUNY/Lehman College
    Three full tuition scholarships are given in recognition of exemplary academic records at Westchester Community College and an interest in pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in art, theater or communications. These scholarships are renewable for students who maintain a 3.0 GPA for up to one additional year of full-time undergraduate study. Part-time Transfer Excellence Award: Offers $100 per credit for maximum of six years. Advance Study Tuition Grant: Offers $50 per credit for a maximum of six years.
     
  • C.W. Post Long Island University
    Cumulative GPA Scholarship Amount
    3.90 - 4.00 $12,000 *
    3.75 - 3.89 $ 8,000 - $10,000
    3.40 - 3.74 $ 5,000 - $ 7,000
    3.25 - 3.39 $ 4,000
    3.00 - 3.24 $ 3,000

    Transfer scholarships are renewable each year.
     
    * There are a limited number of scholarships based on full-time status. PTK also offers $2,500 per year for three years.
     

  • Dominican College of Blauvelt
    Numerous renewable transfer scholarships, grants, and awards are available, ranging from $500 to $5,500 based on cumulative GPA. These academic awards are also available to international students.
     
  • Fairleigh Dickinson University
    PTK: Full-time students are eligible for a $10,000 scholarship. Transfer Scholarships: Range from $5,000 - $10,000 based on GPA of 3.1 - 4.0 for full-time students.
     
  • Fordham University
    One $10,000 scholarship will be awarded to a Westchester Community College student who demonstrates high academic achievement, leadership to the school and service to the community. All Westchester Community College applications will be considered regardless of financial need. Students seeking additional financial assistance, however, must submit the FAFSA and CSS profile.
     
  • Hofstra University
    Academic Honors Transfer Scholarships: Students who have earned a minimum of 24 credit hours are eligible to receive $8,500/yr - 3.8- 4.0 GPA; $6,500/yr - 3.5-3.79 GPA; $4,500/yr - 3.3 - 3.49 GPA; $3,500/yr - 3.0-3.29 GPA. Part-time Scholarships: $4,000/yr- 3.5 - 4.0 GPA; $2,000/yr - 3.0 - 3.49 GPA. PTK Awards Scholarships are available to students with a 3.5 GPA and 58 credit hours completed.
     
  • Iona College
    One full-tuition scholarship (less state aid) is awarded to a graduate with the highest GPA in a business curriculum. Merit Scholarships range from $3,500-$8,000 per year based on overall GPA. Application fees are waived.
     
  • Johnson & Wales University
    Cumulative G.P.A. Scholarship Amount
    3.50 - 4.00 $ 5,000
    3.25 - 3.49 $ 4,000
    3.00 - 3.24 $ 3,000

    All scholarships are renewable. PTK & ABG: Members are eligible for a renewable $5,000 scholarship.
     

  • Manhattan College
    Academic Scholarship: One Westchester Community College graduate will receive a scholarship valued at $10,000 per year, which is renewable for a second year.
     
    Presidential Scholarships: Graduates of any program at Westchester Community College having an articulation agreement with Manhattan are eligible for scholarships ranging from $4,000 - $8,000 per year, based on a GPA of 3.4 or higher.
     
  • Manhattanville College
    Students from Westchester Community College are eligible for the following scholarships for full-time undergraduate study:

    * Manhattanville-Westchester Community College Scholarships offers three scholarships to the top three Westchester Community College students who have the highest GPA and have obtained an Associate’s degree from Westchester Community College who will continue their education at Manhattanville. PTK members are eligible for an $8,000 scholarship. Application fees are waived.

    Manhattanville College Accelerated Bachelor of Science Completion and Dual Degree programs: Manhattanville’s weekend and evening degree programs cater to adult students with busy lives.  Manhattanville is proud to offer Westchester Community College graduates a scholarship amounting to a twenty percent discount for current Bachelor of Science students accepted into the Accelerated Bachelor of Science completion program
     

  • Marymount College of Fordham University
    Full Tuition Scholarship: Awarded to one Westchester Community College applicant with the highest cumulative GPA (3.5 or higher).
     
    Transfer Scholarships: Determined by the applicant’s cumulative GPA and residency status, ranging from $2,000 to $10,000 per year.
     
  • Mercy College
    Full-tuition scholarship awarded to an outstanding scholar in Business Administration with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. Honor student graduates with GPA of 3.2 are eligible for half tuition scholarships. General transfer scholarships are available for students with a 3.2 or higher GPA.
     
  • NYU School Of Education/CCTOP Program
    NYU Community College Transfer Opportunity Program Scholarships: NYU qualifying majors include applied psychology, communication studies, education, nursing, nutrition and food services, studio art, social work, and a variety of music programs. Full-time CCTOP students with a GPA of 3.0 or higher receive scholarship packages ranging from $8,000 to $16,500 per year. This includes a PTK award and a Steinhart School of Education Scholarship.
     
  • Pace University
    Full Scholarships: One To Lubin School of Business and one to Dyson College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Transfer Dean’s Scholarship: GPA 3.25 - 4.00 - Amount can range from $4,000-$7,000. Transfer Incentive Award: GPA 2.75-3.24 - Amount can range from $1,000 to $3,000. ABG and PTK: A letter from the chapter advisor must be submitted for a $1,000 per year scholarship.
     
  • Sacred Heart University
    Westchester Community College Transfer Achievement Award:

    3.51 - 3.80 $2,500
    3.20 - 3.50 $1,500

    PTK: Students with a cumulative GPA of 3.5 are eligible to receive a scholarship of $4,500 for one full year.
     

  • Sarah Lawrence College
    The Sarah Lawrence College For Continuing Education Scholarship: Offers a full tuition scholarship to one graduate of the Westchester Community College Early Childhood program. This covers all tuition, fees and book expenses. The process includes a personal interview, a written application and a financial aid application. Adult student scholarships: Depending on need, these scholarships cover up to 45% of the cost of tuition, fees, and books.
     
  • St. John’s University
    Presidential scholarship for transfer students with a 3.8 GPA will be eligible for a full tuition scholarship, which is renewable for three years of undergraduate study. This scholarship, which is limited in number, was created for outstanding students who transfer to St. John’s for full-time study after earning their Associate’s degree at Westchester Community College.
     
    Resident Scholar’s Grant: Scholarship recipients who apply for on-campus housing also will receive $5,800 towards room and board expenses.
     
    Transfer Scholarships: These scholarships are renewable for up to three years of undergraduate studies. A minimum of 24 credits and 3.0 GPA are required.

    PTK members will receive an additional $1,000 per year.
     

  • SUNY/Albany
    Transfer Presidential Scholars Program affirms the significant contribution made to the University at Albany by transfer scholars. The 10 no-need based awards will be given to outstanding students, ideally representative of the geographic, programmatic, diverse community college transfer population. A minimum 3.5 GPA is required for consideration and additional application materials are required. Scholars receive a $1,000 award each of their two years at SUNY/Albany.
     
  • SUNY/Brockport
    Presidential Scholar Residence Award: To qualified students with at least a 3.75 cumulative GPA with 54 credits. This award is a grant providing free room and partial board for up to two years ($10,080 value). On campus residency is required. Faculty scholar award: An award of $1,000 annually is available for students with an incoming cumulative GPA of at least 3.75 for up to two years.
     
  • SUNY/Old Westbury
    Merit-Based Scholarships are awarded to transfer students who exhibit a commitment to learning and leadership. Applicants must earn at least 60 credits and have a cumulative GPA of 3.3. Contact the SUNY/Old Westbury Office of Enrollment for information.
     
  • SUNY/Plattsburgh
    Transfer Achievement Scholarship: GPA of 3.5 and higher - $500, and an additional $500 transfer housing grant if the student needs on-campus housing.
     
  • SUNY/Purchase
    Merit Scholarships: Two scholarships are offered in Liberal Arts and Sciences and Visual Arts, which are awarded for $1,500 per year. Purchase – Westchester Community College Foundation Scholarships offers three additional awards for up to $3,000 per year. Purchase also offers additional scholarships to transfer students based on merit as well as need. The average award is $1,000 per year. Graduates with a 3.5 or better GPA are eligible to receive a $2,000 award (Community College Scholars Program) and special housing and early registration.
     
  • SUNY/Stony Brook
    Transfer PTK Scholarships. Applicants must have been enrolled full-time only at the community college that grants the degree, have a GPA of 3.8, and present a strong academic program with an AA or AS degree. It is renewable for a second year if a GPA is maintained.
     
  • University of Bridgeport
    Transfer Scholarships based on academic strength, leadership, community service and special talent are offered at UB. Scholarships are evaluated on a case basis and range from $6,000 to $8,000. Part-time scholarships range from $1,000 to $1,500.
     
  • University of Rochester
    Meliora Transfer Grant is available to all residents of New York State or students who have attended college in New York State (up to full tuition and waived application fee). PTK members are eligible for a $5,000 scholarship.

Special Programs

  • Biology Participation in Research and
    Education Program at SUNY/Stony Brook

    A six-week residential summer program for underrepresented minority students at two-year institutions who want to transfer to four-year schools and prepare for careers in the biological sciences.
     
  • Bridges to the Baccalaureate Program
    The National Institute of Health sponsors this program between SUNY/Binghamton and Westchester Community College as well as SUNY/Purchase and Westchester Community College. Underrepresented minority students receive special benefits while they pursue their studies in the sciences and math. These students continue to receive support when they go on to Binghamton to pursue a baccalaureate degree in a biomedical field.
     
  • Jack Kent Cooke Foundation
    In Spring 2004, the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation will award scholarships to help students with exceptional promise and demonstrated financial need reach their full potential through education. Each award will fund tuition, fees, and living expenses for two to three years of a Jack Kent Cooke Scholar’s undergraduate degree. To be eligible, a candidate must have completed freshman credits in 2003 at, or be a recent graduate (since may 1999) of, an accredited community college or two-year institution in the U.S., have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale, plan to transfer to a four-year college or university in fall 2004, and be nominated by his or her two-year institution.
     
  • National Science Foundation’s Pipeline Scholarship Fund
    Eligibility: Full-time student majoring in mathematics, computer science, or technology; female, minority or have special needs; transfer students must have a GPA of 3.0; financial need; U.S. citizen, refugee alien, or permanent resident alien.
     
  • Vassar College Exploring Transfer
    & Exploring Research Summer Programs

    For Westchester Community College students who have completed a minimum of 18 credits. This 5-week residential program is designed to expand the transfer options of community college students by introducing them to a four-year liberal arts college experience. Students take two intensive, intellectually challenging liberal arts courses, which are team taught by faculty members of Vassar and participating community colleges. The fully funded program is particularly interested in enrolling students from minority and low-income family backgrounds who are underrepresented in selective residential private colleges.
