Student & Alumni Employment
-
We help students gain experience in their fields of interest
—
An internship/co-op experience or part-time employment should be an
important part of a student’s overall educational experience.
Through our network of employers we can help students identify
internship and cooperative education opportunities that will best
serve them in their academic and professional pursuits.
-
We know employers who want to know you
—We work directly with employers who often ask for the contact
information of faculty members so that they can identify top
students. Ideally, employers would like to develop mutually
beneficial relationships with faculty, and can provide many forms of
support. We can help facilitate that connection.
-
We place students who have been awarded Federal Work-Study funds
(through Financial Aid) in jobs on and off campus.
Through the America Reads/Counts program, students can work
as tutors in elementary schools, the YMCA or community centers.
Community service positions in non-profit organizations are also
available.
-
We help students develop essential job-search skills
— Require graduating students to write an acceptable resume and
cover letter or portfolio. Invite us to your classroom or suggest
attendance at our workshops for resume prep and interviewing skills.
We can conduct mock interviews with students and then provide a
constructive critique of their performance. These can be
accomplished with a counselor or with a web video system.
-
Career fairs attract many recruiters to the campus
—
Career fairs provide excellent opportunities for students to meet
representatives from companies in their industries of choice. It
gives them the opportunity to establish a network of contacts. We
will help your students research the employers beforehand and
provide tips so they are prepared to effectively engage recruiters.
