The Westchester Community College Volleyball team came into existence in
the late 1970s. The team immediately became a part of Region XV of the
NJCAA and a member of the Mid Hudson Conference. In recent years the
NJCAA has split into divisions and Westchester's volleyball team entered
NJCAA Division III.
The Lady Westcos have won five Mid-Hudson
Conference Championships and have earned numerous bids to the NJCAA
Region XV Tournament. The goal, each season, is to win the Region XV
tournament and advance to the NJCAA National Championships.
The volleyball season is during the fall
semester of the school year and runs from early September to the
beginning of November. Every season 10 to 12 women make up a team that
plays a schedule consisting of 25 to 30 games.
The Lady Westcos play multi-team matches
on the weekends and dual matches during the week. The schedule consists
of two matches vs. Conference and Central Division foes and solos vs.
the other Region XV teams. The Westcos also play several strong teams
from outside Region XV such as Army Prep.
