The Viking men's and women's bowling teams are members of the NJCAA and
CBUSA. Westchester competes in a series of seven to 10 sanctioned
tournaments every season. The schedule affords Westchester's bowlers
the unique opportunity to take the lanes against some of the top college
bowling teams in the nation. Not only do the Vikings get to bowl
against top flight Junior college teams such as Erie, Vincennes,
Dutchess, etc. but they also go head to head with some of the top four
year programs in the nation. In the past several years Westchester's men
and women have faced the likes of #1 ranked St John's, Sacred Heart U.,
Kent State, Temple, Cornell, Western New England and many others.
The season concludes with a trip to the
NJCAA National Championships. Bowlers in the Westchester program will
remember for the rest of their lives the opportunity they had to compete
in a National Championship.
Westchester's women's team consists of
five to eight women ranging from beginner on up. We have had much
success bringing first time women bowlers into the sport and developing
their skills. The women's team has won numerous tournaments including
two Region XV Championships and a second place finish in the NJCAA
National Championships in 2000. Several Westchester women bowlers have
been offered scholarships by four year NCAA programs.
The men's team consists of five to eight
men with averages from the mid 160s on up. The men's team has produced
several NJCAA All Americans and has won two National Championships in
doubles.
