MEN’S BOWLING
SAT 2/5 Westchester finished 10th in the Dutchess Mardi Bob
Tournament. Thomas Coco averaged 215 and finished 8th in All
Events………..SUN 2/6 The first round of WCC’s own Blue and Orange Classic
was contested at AMF White Plains. Thomas Coco And Steve Frable scored
2433 in six games of doubles………..SUN 2/13 Westchester finished 7th in
the Blue and Orange Classic. Thomas Coco shot 1336 to finish third in
singles ant AMF Rip Van Winkle Lanes. Coco averaged 207 for the two day
tournament………SAT 2/19 Westchester finished 3rd in the Briarcliffe
Tournament at AMF Sayville. Steven Frable averaged 218 for the
tournament………..SUN 2/20 The Vikings finished third at the Nassau
Tournament. WCC was lead by Andrew Killourhy who averaged 218 for the
tournament………….FRI 2/25 The first round of the NJCAA Region XV
Tournament was bowled at AMF White Plains. Thoma Coco threw a 740 series
to win the singles event. Westchester finished the first day in third
place………SAT 2/26 The final day of the Region XV Tournament was contested
at AMF Rip Van Winkle. Westchester finished in third place. Thomas Coco
won the All Events Championship, averaging 229 for the tournament, and
was named the Region XV Bowler of the year. Coco also made the All
Region team………….FRI 3/11 and SAT 3/12 The Men’s Bowling team competed in
the NJCAA National Championships at AMF Thruway and AMF Lancaster Lanes
in Buffalo. The Vikings finished tied for 10th with Dutchess C.C. with
12645 pins. The National Championship was won By Erie C.C.. WCC was lead
by Thomas Coco who averaged 188 for the tournament.
WOMEN’S BOWLING
SAT 2/5 The Lady Vikings finished in third place in the Dutchess
Tournament. Shayla Fields averaged 168 for the tournament………SUN 2/6 The
Vikes finished the first round of the Blue and Orange Classic in second
place, ahead of Adelphi and SUNY IT. Shayla Fields and Stacy Nadler
finished fourth in doubles with a 2029 over six games………..SUN 2/13 The
second round of the Blue and Orange was contested at AMF Rip Van Winkle.
Stacy Nadler had a 1065 over six games of singles and averaged 174 for
the tournament. The Lady Vikings finished in second place……….FRI 3/11
and SAT 3/12 The Lady Vikings competed in the NJCAA National
Championships at AMF Thruway and AMF Lancaster Lanes in Buffalo.
Westchester finished in seventh place with 9123 pins. The National
Championship was won by Erie C.C………..For the third time in the last four
years the Vikings have been invited to compete in the BC Sectional
Qualifier. This is the first round of CBUSA’s National Championship
Tournament. The Qualifier will take place on March 19 and 20 at AMF
Parkway Lanes in Allentown Pa. The Lady Vikings will have to bowl 64
Baker Games in two days against U of Central Florisa, Morehead State,
New Jersey City U, Penn State U, Hudson Valley C.C., Erie C.C., Kent
State U, Briarcliffe College, St Peter’s College, Delaware State U.,
Schenectady C.C., SUNY It and the U of Michigan. The top four teams will
be invited to Rockford, Ill. For the finals.
MEN’S BASKETBALL
(RECORD 19-8, REGION 1-3, CONFERENCE 9-1)
THU 2/3 It was a tough week for the Westcos as they had to play Division
I rival Globe twice in three days. The Westcos won their home game
80-69……….SAT 2/5 The Westcos traveled to Pace in Manhattan where they
dropped their game to Globe 71-63………..TUE 2/8 The Westcos suffered their
first Conference loss, 74-67 at Sullivan……….THU 2/10 The Westcos
defeated Orange at Orange in a Conference game 75-65………..SAT 2/12 The
Westcos concluded their Region XV season with a 86-76 loss to Monroe in
a game played at Mt St Michael’s……TUE 2/15 The Westcos defeatd Dutchess
79-41 in a Mid Hudson Conference game………THU 2/17 The Westcos hung on for
an 88-86 win at Nassau……….SAT 2/19 The Westcos defeated Ulster 90-45 in
a Conference game at Ulster………TUE 2/22 The Westcos defeated TCI
75-55………THU 2/24 The Westcos defeated Fashion 73-68……..SAT 2/26 The
regular season ended with an 89-44 won over Rockland………….. The Westco’s
season came to an abrupt halt when they lost in the first round of the
Regionals to Globe 73-66…………..Ra Chase and Kenneth Webster were named
first team All Region and Richard Fields and Jamile Dixon were named
second team……….Richard Fields was named to the first team All Tournament
and Shonte Sasser and Ra Chase were named second team………Ra chase was
named First Team All Mid Hudson Conference and Kenneth Webster and
Jamiel Dixon was named second team.
BASEBALL
Former Westchester player Hector Cartegena will be playing for John Jay
College this season………..Former WCC player Michael Rinn now pitches for
Ferrum.
WOMEN’S
BASKETBALL (RECORD 4-13 REGION 5-10 CONFERENCE 0-3)
THU 2/3 The Lady Westcos obtained their third win with a 64-38 home
triumph over Queensborough……..SUN 2/6 The Lady Westcos lost to Suffolk
75-37……….TUE 2/8 The Lady Westcos defeated Sullivan 50-42………THU 2/10 WCC
remained in search of its first conference win after losing at Orange
74-35. ………….SAT 2/12 Westchester dropped a 65-51 decision at
Kingsborough………SUN 2/13 The Lady Westcos avenged an early loss and
defeated Fashion 63-59.
