Fannie
Aleman-Lansch
President – Westchester Hispanic Chamber of Commerce
Fannie Aleman-Lansch is a bilingual business professional with a
17-year career in finance who also serves as President of the
Westchester Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. An entrepreneur in the
fashion industry by the age of 17, Fannie left her native Santo
Domingo as a young adult to come to the United States, where she
turned into an active real estate investor.
She has enjoyed a progressive career in banking and
finance and has become a dynamic member of her community.
Fannie is currently a Vice President Senior Business
Relationship Manager for HSBC.
She previously worked for Union State/Key Bank where she
directed the Construction Loan Department. Prior to her career
in Banking, Fannie worked in sales, business development and
project management for various companies in Florida and in the
Dominican Republic. In 2009, Fannie developed an innovative
bilingual business website intended to promote independent
contractors, freelancers and businesses from across the globe
both in English and Spanish.
As a result of her vast knowledge of the United States’ Hispanic
professional and business community, Fannie is often asked to
speak on business, labor and finance related issues for
audiences in the United States and Latin America. In 2010 she
was identified by the Westchester Magazine – 914INC as one of
the twelve most influential business people in Westchester.
Ms. Aleman-Lansch is a member of Congresswoman Nita Lowey’s
Hispanic Advisory Board, the Board of Directors of the
Westchester Hispanic Coalition, as well as, the Westchester
County Economic Development Council.
She received an MBA in Financial Management from Pace
University, a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Administration
from the University of Miami, and an Associates of Art degree
from Miami-Dade Community College.
Laurence P. Gottlieb
Director - Westchester County Economic Development
Appointed in January 2010, Laurence Gottlieb joined the Astorino
administration as Director of Economic Development with over 20
years of experience as a top management
executive in several major corporations, public affairs agencies
and a global nonprofit organization.
His multi-award winning marketing campaign – branding
Westchester as “New
York’s Intellectual Capital®”
– and streamlining the Office of Economic Development has
resulted in numerous businesses either expanding or moving to
the county, including Pepsi Beverages, IBM, Atlas Air, Dannon,
Amkai Solutions, Sabra Dipping, Acorda Therapeutics, BioMed
Realty Trust, Pentegra Retirement Services, OrthoNet, Lifetime
Fitness and many others.
Before joining Westchester County, Gottlieb was a Market Leader
and Managing Director for the largest public relations agency in
the world, Burson-Marsteller.
Before joining Burson, he was Director of Communications
for Entergy Nuclear, and prior to Entergy, Mr. Gottlieb was the
Director of Marketing for the National Multiple Sclerosis
Society.
Mr. Gottlieb has received numerous honors for his work from
organizations such as the Edison Electric Institute, NYS
Economic Development Council, Advertising Club of Westchester,
American Diabetes Association, The Volunteer Center of United
Way and honored with the prestigious PR News’ Public Affairs
Campaign of the Year Award, and was named one of 914INC.’s
Power Dozens.
He is a Pace University cum laude graduate, and
completed the Harvard Business School’s first-ever Executive
Education Program on Corporate Social Responsibility.
Richard
S. Hyland
Professor and Curriculum Chair – Global Business, Westchester
Community College
Richard Hyland is currently an Assistant Professor and
Curriculum Chair for Global Business
at Westchester Community College in Valhalla, NY.
He teaches Business Organization and Management,
Marketing, Entrepreneurship, and the capstone Principles of
Management course. Prior to this he served as the Director of
the College’s Cross County Extension Center, Yonkers for nearly
a decade.
Throughout his business career he has held a variety of
executive and management positions.
He served as a Project manager at Walker Digital, a
high-tech think tank and patent company in Stamford, CT, where
he helped to launch Priceline.com. His executive experience also
includes a stint as Executive Vice President of CI4NET North
America, the US Subsidiary of a UK based firm specializing in
e-commerce and emerging technologies; CEO of an Internet startup
- RewardWorld.com; Executive Vice President at Unico, Inc., a
technology incubator and holding company based in Stamford, CT;
and Executive VP of Papps Capital Group, a Wall Street money
management firm.
Mr. Hyland served honorably for four years in the United States
Marine Corps Infantry.
He served as a Squad Leader, was meritoriously promoted
to the rank of Corporal and he received a good conduct medal and
several deployment ribbons.
Mr. Hyland holds an AS in Business Administration from
Westchester Community College, a BS in Economics from The
Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, an MS in
Leadership and Strategic Management from Manhattanville College,
and is currently a doctoral candidate at Columbia University
Teachers College in the AEGIS Adult Education program.
Kimberlie
A. Jacobs
Executive Director, Community Capital Resources
Kimberlie Jacobs has served as the Executive Director of
Community Capital Resources (CCR) since its creation in 1989.
CCR is a Community Development Financial Institution that
makes the loans that banks cannot or will not provide to
underserved community businesses in the lower Hudson Valley.
CCR provides loans that support the creation of
affordable housing. It also offers loans to start-ups and
emerging entrepreneurs.
Ms. Jacobs was responsible for creating the Hudson Valley
Affordable Housing Finance Corporation, an affiliated agency,
which syndicate Low Income Housing Tax Credits which provided
over $12 million in equity investments affordable housing
developments. She
successfully secured designation as a Community Development
Financial Institution (CDFI) for the agency from the US
Department of Treasury and got the organization certified as the
SBA Micro Lender for six counties in the region.
Ms. Jacobs created an asset building and retention
program including the county’s only Individual Development
Account program, the region’s largest Financial Education
Training program.
Prior to her work in Westchester, Ms. Jacobs served as the
Deputy Director of the Rochester Downtown Development
Corporation, Rochester, NY.
She also served as a Senior Planner for the City of Sioux
Falls, SD among other positions throughout the US.
She has a Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning
from the University of Iowa and an MBA in Finance from Pace
University. Ms.
Jacobs has served on a variety of community Advisory Boards
including JP Morgan Chase National Community Advisory Board,
Westhab, Inc., United Way of Westchester and Putnam - Income
Committee and is co-founder of the Community Housing Resource
Center. In 2000 she
was selected as a Fannie Mae fellow to the Kennedy School of
Government Senior Executives Program at Harvard University.
Jeanne Maloney
Director - Special Projects, Westchester Community College
Jeanne Maloney is Director of Special Projects in the Division
of Continuing Education at Westchester Community College,
Valhalla, NY. She
has been in higher education for over 25 years, serving as both
a faculty member and administrator.
She came to Westchester Community College in 2003 and was
appointed the Assistant Director of the college’s Ossining
Extension Center.
Jeanne served in this position until 2008; at that time, she
became the Director of Special Projects in the Division of
Continuing Education.
In this capacity, she coordinates a variety of ongoing
and grant-funded initiatives.
Jeanne also actively collaborates with other members of
the Division and the Foundation Grant Team to develop funding
proposals.
Jeanne holds both a Bachelor of Science Degree from the
University of Minnesota and a Master of Science Degree in Dental
Hygiene Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.
Prior to coming to Westchester Community College, Jeanne
was a faculty member and program director in allied health
programs at the University of Minnesota and both the University
of Bridgeport and University of New Haven in Connecticut.
Robert Nechols
Director – English Language Institute, Westchester Community
College
Robert Nechols is the Director of the English Language Institute
at Westchester Community College. A former Peace Corps Volunteer
in Korea, he speaks Korean and worked in university and
corporate settings in South Korea for 17 years. In another
former position, he was Assistant Professor, and Director of
English Language Institute, Green Mountain College, Poultney,
Vermont. He has an M.A. degree in English from the University of
Pittsburgh, Pittsburgh, PA.
Scorpio
Rogers
Professor and Managing Principal-Entrepreneurial consultants,
LLC
Scorpio Rogers is a Professor in the Business Department at
Westchester Community College who teaches Entrepreneurship,
Business and Marketing. Additionally he teaches the Network for
Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) curriculum to high school
students and teaches a non-credit Entrepreneurship to seniors.
Scorpio Rogers is the founder and Managing Principal of
Entrepreneurial Consultants, LLC, a management-consulting firm
for start-up and growing entrepreneurial business. In this
capacity he provides consulting services in the areas of:
strategy and business plan creation; business principles
training; technology evaluation and implementation; tactical
management; business valuation; and financing facilitation. He
has partnered with and consulted for various entrepreneurial
organizations including the Upper Manhattan Empowerment Zone,
the Women's Venture Fund, the Harlem Venture Group, and the
William Jefferson Clinton Small Business Initiative where he was
recognized by former President Clinton for his service.
Mr. Rogers has a BA in Computer Science and Technology from
Dartmouth College and a MBA in Management with concentrations in
Entrepreneurship and Strategy from the Columbia University
Graduate School of Business. Also, he is a certified Six Sigma
Green Belt. He mentors youth in business at WCC, as a NFTE
consultant and as an active Life Member of the Harlem New York
chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
He coaches little league baseball and basketball and
participates as an Assistant Scout Master. He is married with a
son and two daughters.
