Certificate in Applied Art
The certificate in Applied Art is a
30 credit studio-intensive program for training the artist/craftsperson. A
student undertakes study in this program to increase understanding of and
proficiency in his/her chosen medium. This certificate is specifically
designed for people who are interested in assembling a professional quality
portfolio of their work for presentation to employers in business and
industry. The program also provides the skills necessary to help artists
begin art related businesses of their own. (At least 1 3-credit class must
be taken on Westchester Community College main campus in order to complete the certificate.)
College credit in all course work is fully
transferable to 2, 4, or 5 year art degree programs. A broad range of studio
art offerings is available each semester at the Center for the Arts and
on campus in Valhalla. For a curriculum outline, call (914) 606-6810.
Grades and Transcripts
Classes at the Art Workshop may be
taken on a credit or non-credit basis, for the same price. Non-Credit:
Students audit the class, a grade is not given, and the class cannot be
applied toward a degree. Student transcripts say "non-credit". For Credit:
On the first day of class students fill out a form to request a letter
grade, and throughout the semester will be required to fulfill rigorous
academic requirements (attendance, completion of projects, etc.) Students
receive a transcript for transferable credit. For
transcripts, call Westchester Community College at (914) 606-6810.
