DIGITAL ARTS CLASSES FOR TEENS

NEW! Multimedia Storytelling for Teens
Use your own stories and illustrations to make multimedia presentations. Children will develop storyboards that will be realized with image and text utilizing iStop animation.

3D Animation *
This course introduces students to the fundamentals of 3D character design and animation. Each student will learn the mechanics of Maya, a 3D software environment, and produce a moving character of their own invention. Students will be able to take home a Quicktime movie of their animation.

Game Design *
You play them but did you ever wonder how to build a computer game? The gaming industry is an exciting burgeoning field that requires the technical ability of a computer programmer and the creativity of an artist. Dive into interactivity with a multimedia designer. Start programming and designing your own games.
(Previous digital art experience required.)

2D Animation
Using Flash, characters, text, and images can come to life. Explore a variety of software focusing
on animation for the Web. Learn Flash and create stunning 2D animations for your portfolio.
(Prior computer experience required.)

Web Design
Create your own website! Showcase your art or other interests by learning to build web pages and understand Internet architecture. Includes HTML and Dreamweaver instruction.

Graphic Design
Good design makes all the difference! Learn design fundamentals including type, color, and page layout using Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop. Students will create posters or “zines” and other projects, while learning a variety of software interfaces.

Digital Video
Learn to make and edit your own mini-movies for the Web, computer, or DVD. Combine video clips, colorful text, designs, graphic art, photos, songs and sounds to create special effects. Create your own DVD for home use.

Painting and Drawing
Introduction to a variety of materials, tools, and techniques of 2D art. Explore color, composition, still-life, landscape, and portraiture. Advanced students refine their skills through exercises emphasizing realism and craftsmanship.

Cartooning
Do you like to draw cartoon characters? Are you a doodler? This course is for you! Students will draw their favorite characters designed in 3D adding color with markers, colored pencils and in various sculpture mediums.

Registration Information

• Students may register for one or more classes for their age group.

• Game Design and 3D Animation all-day classesare $218 (+ $50 lab fee). All other classes are $161 (+ $50 lab/studio fee).

• 2-hour classes meet from 9:30-11:30 am and  from 12:00 noon-2:00 pm, with a half hour supervised lunch break at 11:30 am.

•  Game Design* & 3D Animation* meet from 9:30 am-2:00 pm with a half hour supervised lunch break at 11:30 am (total 4 class hours).

•  Students must bring their own non-perishable lunch. The Center will not provide lunch and students may not leave the facility at any time without a parent or guardian.

•  Classes do not meet on Fridays.
