How are today’s artists using seriality and recurrence to address formal or expressive concerns? Four artists use visual systems, modular units, and repetitive elements stemming from nature and technology as narrative and organizational devices.
artist profiles
Monica Bock holds a BA in Art and Art History from Oberlin College and both a BFA and MFA in Sculpture from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. Her recent exhibitions include the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago, The Mattress Factory in Pittsburgh, Mobius in Boston, and Art in General in New York City. She is an Associate Professor of Sculpture at the University of
Connecticut, Storrs.
Brad Hampton holds a BFA from New York University and an MFA from Parsons School of Design. He has recently exhibited at Samson Projects in Boston as well as Massimo Audiello Gallery, Artists Space, and Marlborough Gallery Chelsea in New York City.
Miranda Maher
holds a BFA from
the Rhode Island School of Design and an MFA from the Cranbrook Academy of
Art. Her recent exhibitions include KunstBunker, Nürnburg, Agnes Scott
College in Atlanta, the Brooklyn Museum of Art, Nicole Klagsbrun Gallery,
and The Drawing Center in New York City. Collections holding her work
include The Sackner Archive of Concrete and Visual Poetry, San Francisco
Museum of Modern Art, The Museum of Modern Art-Artist’s Books, Dia Center
for the Arts, and Harvard University.
Taney Roniger holds a BFA from the School of Visual Arts and an MFA from Yale University. Her recent exhibitions include Goliath Visual Space and Metaphor Contemporary Art in Brooklyn, The Foundry in London, and White Columns in New York.
