Phyllis Fein

Phyllis Fein has a unique blend of industry expertise and teaching experience as the current chairperson of the Fashion Merchandising program at SUNY PlaceWestchester Community College and the Nelson Peltz Endowed Chair in Entrepreneurship. Phyllis began her fashion career as an Associate Buyer for Women's Designer Clothing at Saks Fifth Avenue after graduating from New York University’s Stern School of Business with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing. After completing her MBA, also at NYU’s Stern School of Business, Phyllis began a career in Brand Marketing, first at Playtex Products on the Infant Care business and then as New Product Development Marketing Manager on Banana Boat Suncare. She then entered the Marketing arena of Beauty and Cosmetics Branding specializing in New Product Development Marketing. At L’Oreal, Phyllis was the Director of International Product Development of skincare, hair care, and hair color and then at Estee Lauder, she was Director of Makeup Marketing working on Color Cosmetics and Fashion Statements.

Phyllis’ teaching career at Westchester Community College is a great synergy of her love of the creative business world and as a way to enjoy the modern thinking and share new ideas with students. She has edited and published academic texts and text supplements for Marketing, Retail Management, Fashion Merchandising & Advertising textbooks. Phyllis continues to be very active in the world of fashion as a Board Member of FIT’ Textile’s Marketing Program.

Elizabeth Egan

Elizabeth Egan has rich experience in the Fashion Industry.  After completing her education at F.I.T.,   Elizabeth began her career as an assistant textile colorist with Liz Claiborne, Inc.   During Elizabeth’s time at Liz Claiborne, she became Senior Textile Colorist and traveled extensively across the Far East to source materials and evaluate maintenance of quality control standards. While at Liz Claiborne Elizabeth styled colors and prints for product development and manufacturing.

After joining the Design team at Evan-Picone, Elizabeth coordinated fabrics for women’s sportswear. While at Evan-Picone she cultivated and maintained productive relationships with international manufacturers to facilitate timely product development.

Elizabeth then joined the Design team of Tweeds, Inc as the fabric buyer.  At Tweeds, Inc. Elizabeth executed product development activities for the women’s sportswear company by conducting extensive research in both domestic and overseas markets.   Her attendance at European trade shows to evaluate emerging market trends and identify opportunities for cost-effective material sourcing was an integral part of developing the product line.

Elizabeth now shares her industry experience in teaching and engaging students at Westchester Community College.  Elizabeth integrates interactive “workshop” classroom activities to bring the fashion industry into the classroom.
