Spanish Summer Study
&  Travel Program

Costa Rica

Dates: June 30 - July 30, 2007

Courses and Credits

Other courses might be added upon demand. All students are required to take Two (2) courses.

  • Spanish Conversation II      (3 credits)

  • Intermediate Spanish I        (3 credits)

  • Intermediate Spanish II       (3 credits)

  • Advanced Spanish II           (3 credits)

Students must register for Six (6) credits.  Credits are expressed in semester hours; a three-credit course is equivalent to 45 formal teaching hours.  The teaching staff awards grades based on examination and class performance.  Class attendance is required.  All students will receive a regular grade report from Westchester Community College; transcripts will be available upon request at the Office of the Registrar.   Students could also take the courses on a non-credit basis.

Class Instruction 
Classes are held Monday through Thursday five hours a day at the IPED, a professional language institute where foreigners come to study Spanish in Costa Rica and Costa Rican students can learn English.  Classrooms are spacious and comfortable, and there is a back patio where students take breaks.  Instruction is directed by Prof. Fazzino of Westchester Community College.
