Telecommunications Technology
The Telecommunications Technology program is designed to upgrade skills and to prepare students for a career in telecommunications, one of the most crucial technologies in the information age. In the 21st century the use of cell phones and modems via the telephone DSL (Digital Subscriber Line), television cable and wireless is exploding.

With the onset of wireless communication the need for individuals who understand the basic principles of this complex technology is increasing at a steady rate.

Some students may find jobs as a field technician in a cable or communications company to test install and maintain telecommunications equipment. This would include fiber optics as well as wireless equipment. For example, hospitals have an increased use of wireless monitoring of cardiac patients using equipment that must be calibrated and maintained

Convergence technology (CT) is a buzzword of the IT and telecommunications industries. Convergence technology is the merging of voice, video and data on a single network, integrating telecommunications with computer technology
