Choosing An Encore Career

Health Information Technology
This exciting program prepares healthcare and/or IT professionals to serve as Implementation Support Specialists, Technical/Software support staff, and Trainers in health care organizations. Classes for this six-month program are held during evening and weekend hours. Click here for more information.

Nurse Leadership Training
This program is designed to train experienced nurses in the essential knowledge and skills needed to become an effective leader in a healthcare setting. Topics include: communication skills, identifying leadership roles, conflict resolution, and team building and decision making, and will include clinical practice examples. This 7-week program is offered by the Department of Nursing and Mainstream and will begin October 2nd, 12-3pm. This activity will provide 20 ¾ contact hours. This continuing nursing education activity was approved by the Ohio Nurses Association (OBN-001-91), an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Commission on Accreditation. Perkins QuickBooks Training
Job Search Skills, Bookkeeping/Accounting Review

A 75-hour course over 7 weeks that provides 15 hours of job search training, 30 hours of bookkeeping and accounting review and 30 hours of intro to QuickBooks. This program is especially designed for mature adults 50+who are actively looking for employment, have bookkeeping, accounting or financial background and computer experience. Applicants who are accepted into this program must attend an orientation session. This program is sponsored by the Carl D. Perkins Vocational Training Act.

Operation Talent Bank 
Job Search Skills & Computer Training
Designed for mature adults who are actively looking for work, this program is offered several times throughout the year. All sessions offer 15 hours of job search skills that include resume writing, interviewing skills, self-assessment and job search strategies. Some sessions also include 15 hours of computer training in Excel and PowerPoint. This program is sponsored by the Women’s Research and Education fund in partnership with the Westchester County Office for Women.
