Background Information:
Professor Cotten is a native of Colorado and grew up in Boulder. After spending about 10 years wandering around in different jobs she found her love of mathematics at Front Range Community College in Westminster, Colorado, a suburb of Denver. Her love of mathematics continued to grow while at Metro State and NAU. She credits her professors for showing her the beauty of mathematics, instilling in her the love of learning, and the confidence to reach her goals. Her years spent as a student at a community college greatly
contributed to her love of teaching students in the same environment. She enjoys teaching on-campus classes, as well as online courses at WCC. Professor Cotten is a Past-President of the New York State Mathematics Association of Two Year Colleges, and an active member in the American Mathematics Association of Two Year Colleges, where she serves on the Distance Learning Committee. She also holds memberships in the Mathematical Association of America and the Association for Women in Mathematics. In her spare time Professor Cotten
enjoys photography, reading, working out, crocheting, University of Colorado Football, any beach, and traveling. |
