Media and Instructional Technology

The goal of Media & Instructional Technology is to facilitate excellence in the teaching, learning research, and service functions of the college by providing centralized leadership and creative support for the effective use of all instructional technologies.

Multimedia Classrooms
As of Fall 2009, Westchester Community College will have seventy-eight (78) new technology-enhanced classrooms. Eleven (11) are in the Technology Building, Fourteen (14) in the Classroom building,  Nine (9) in the Science building, Four (4) in the Library, One (1) in the Student Center, Eleven (11) in the Academic Arts Building, and Four (4) in the Health-Science Building. In addition, the Westchester Community College Extension Centers have state-of-the-art multimedia classrooms as well.

Each multimedia classroom has an instructor PC, a projector, a sound system, and multimedia players (DVD and VCR). Many classrooms also have document cameras for projecting printed materials. Sixteen (16) rooms have SMART Boards – touch-activated white boards and thirty-five (35) contain SMART Sympodium monitors, which use pressure-pen technology.
