Social Sciences Department
Welcome to the Social Sciences Department, which includes the academic disciplines of Anthropology, Economics, Geography, Political Science, Psychology, and Sociology. This multi-disciplinary Department provides courses that examine the human condition from a variety of evidence based approaches. Our collective goal is to expose students to social science methods and theory to build the skills necessary to research and critically evaluate important issues in today’s complex world, such as human motivations and behavior, poverty, economic and political turmoil, social justice, and human diversity.
The Department’s collective course offerings are transferrable to baccalaureate institutions, and many serve as General Education courses in Social Science, American History, or Other World Civilizations. Our Associate’s degree (LAS: Social Science) also transfers easily to a variety of institutions and provides clear pathways for Junior-level standing upon transfer for Anthropology, Economics, Psychology, and Sociology. Our general-level LAS/Social Science degree is useful in preparing for a wide range of careers in health care, business, government, law, education, and many other fields.
Our award-winning faculty are here to help you reach your academic and professional goals. The Social Science Faculty welcome you to our Department.
